This morning there seems to be a new-look UK Gold. It is based around yellow, red and orange shapes that animate. It's OK, but I still prefer the fireworks.
Go to www.ukgold.tv for a look at the new logo. (The picture of the fireworks is still on it!) There's no change for the dog, but programme promos, bumpers, and idents have been changed.
I watched a programme on UK Gold for the first time in ages last week, and I was shocked at the screen clutter.
At one point this consisted of the usual DOG, and underneath it a scrawl saying" 7 days to the Battle" or something like that, then there was a "Press Red" icon that kept coming back even when I pressed "Back Up", and finally a "NEXT" caption which appeared even before the programme finished.
I will be phoning to complain to Viewer Relations next week as this is no way to run a channel.

UK Gold is without a doubt the worst UKTV Channel! The dog is too white and not transparent, and its a little too big, and the text underneath is pointless as The Battle ads come on EVERY!!!!!!!! Ad break. I am sick of them! Of all the UK channels, UK Gold is the one I watch the least! At least when I watch Style, The dog is not annoying. I know it has the pointless web address on it, but I still don’t mind that, unlike the UK Gold rubbish.
The Gold idents were rubbish anyway. I was sick of those dancing Bollywood figures or what ever they were and that park with the duck noises.
Of all the UKTV channels, at the moment UK Style, Brightideas & Drama have the best presentation.
Hmmm....still stuck the live-action idents aren't we? Seems we've lost the UK GOLD at the bottom in favour of those dodgy orange shapes. It's a bit better and at least there's a tune at the end (they kicked off the rebrand at 6am with someone at a sink ident...eek!) but it's still nothing like the fireworks. Bit poor.
Do they have a new announcer? The one this morning seems quite friendly and happy.
Thepress red is one of the best of any channel. It comes on just before a break and then disappears a few minutes into the next part. One advantage of this is that it is just like the old cue-dot - it lets you know when the break is immiment so you can ask round who wants a cuppa!
This sort of stuff doesn't annoy me at all..... except the caption last night during Only Fools and Horses with said 'Next, Only Fools and Horses' and the caption during the Office that said 'Next Men Behaing Badly' (SIC)

The Battle thing is really annoyign me now, thankfully, the "Next" thing only appears after 6PM, and I hope it's been ditched with this relauch- there has been some talk of them getting rid of it.
