Did anyone see UK Gold tonight (9/4/00 8:20pm)?

After Birds of a Feather the adverts began but shortly afterwards the screen went blank and then the technical fault screen appeared. A few minutes later they just cut to Keeping Up Appearances. During the break of Keeping Up Appearances the screen went blank again for no more than a minute before returning to the second part of the programme. By this time they were ahead of schedule because of the lack of adverts which is a pleasant change! . At 8:53 (apr) they ran loads of adverts and then two Simply The Best documentary : One Foot In the Grave and Men Behaving Badly. Also at one point it displayed the countdown clock or whatever you call it that displayed BBC and UK Tv and then 'Generic Clock!'

Do broadcasters loose money when things like this happen through loss of adverts?

Oh brilliant! I've been watching UK Gold's junctions all day to get this fifth ident (I'm starting to think I've imagined it - I've only seen it once before!) and missed the 8.20 one because the programme started early. I tuned in at the end of BOAF during the credits and then next time I looked KUA was already on.

What was the music like? I've got the UK Style breakdown music but no other which is a shame because they disappear in a couple of weeks!

Cheers,
Asa

Yes they do lose money! I remember that when Princess Diana died, ITV didn't show any adverts all morning, losing them millions, apparently. Not that I saw this, I was in Gran Canaria at the time!

Hi the music is a slight variation to the idents with the sound of firworks exploding , the background to it is a lighter and more colourfull version of the fireworks ident (the one thats always used for neighbours) . I think ive got a clip of it on video but im not sure whether its been re recorded over or not but I will have a look
