They had no plans to air it on anything other than More4. It was just going to be like a replacement to the West Wing (and probably still will be).

Ch4 originally planned to air this in the T4 strand. However after seeing how phenomenally well it performed in the states and how poorly their big commission - the much hyped 'Studio 60'- tanked they had a change of heart. Studio 60 will now only air on 'More4'.

From what I've read I understood that they originally planned to air it on both Channel 4 and More4 but this has since changed.

i've just watched this programme now, and i think it was actually quite good. okay, it was a little cliche and a bit predictable, but i think it could be quite popular.
difficult to see how it will last a particularly long time - i'd imagine probably two/three/four seasons, four only if they're willing to absolutely scrape the barrel.

The Big Brother effect strikes again- it's probably worth less than half that without the strong lead in.
The best example in recent years of this was "8 out of 10 cats", a decidedly average panel show that was lauded as the rebirth of channel 4 homegrown comedy when it launched with 3-4m viewers during Big Brother.
In the most recent series without it's brotherly lead in, it was struggling to reach 1.5m.

Actually the series is based on the 'telenovela' format - so basically it's not just a rolling plot that can go on forever, but a story with a beginning, middle and end.
Presumably though, when they get to the end of one storyline, they could always write another if it's doing well enough.
