Nice end credit sequence for BBC Euro 2012, though the names were on screen for ridiculously short periods.

This style has worked very effectively for BBC Sport since at least Bejing 2008 - very nicely done.

ITN/ITV News are using BBC pictures for their Euro 2012 report.

You can bet someone won't be happy about that.

Not unexpectedly ....

More than 13 million viewers watched Spain win Euro 2012 on BBC1 – six times the number that watched the tournament climax on ITV1.

Spain's crushing 4-0 win over Italy averaged 12.3 million viewers on BBC1, with a 15-minute peak of 13.3 million on Sunday night.

ITV1's coverage of the match, which kicked off at 7.45pm, averaged 2 million viewers, with a 15-minute peak of 2.2 million.

Overall BBC1's Match of the Day Live: Euro 2012 Final, hosted by Gary Lineker, pulled in 10.2 million viewers, a 41.3% share, between 7pm and 10.15pm.

ITV1's Euro 2012 Final Live, presented by Adrian Chiles, averaged 1.7 million viewers, 7% of the audience, between 7pm and 10.15pm.

I bet ITV weren't helped by the fact the last 3 match before the final were all exclusively live on the BBC. Many may have thought ITV had gone home after the third quarter-final.

I suspect had ITV aired one of the semi finals they would have been up a little for the final but not a great deal.

It does seem the better ITV's coverage gets, the more it gets thrashed by the BBC.

Paraphrased from another forum "why would anyone want to watch ITV, it's just the BBCs pictures, but with adverts and that irritating fool Adrian Chiles?"...

Plus with ITV's recent record, it's not like you can guarantee the adverts will only be on during the advert breaks.

I don't get why everyone hates Adrian, I think he's the best football host ITV has ever had in my lifetime. He knows what he's talking about but can have a laugh and is one of the lads at the same time.

Because he used to be a niche product, and now he's been forced into the mainstream. He used to be the quirky, ex-Working Lunch presenter of MOTD2, a more cultish version of MOTD. Now he chased the money and is the ONLY face of ITV football, replacing Jim Rosenthal and Steve Rider in one swoop.

Remember what happened when Des Lynam went to ITV to chase the money after he'd built up a cult following following Euro 96? Yep - his career fizzled out.

Lets see:

BBC:
MOTD2
The Apprentice: You're Fired
The One Show

ITV:
Football (No difference in style of presentation as to when he did MOTD2)
Daybreak (ITV's attempt at a Breakfast version of The One Show)
That Sunday Night Show (same round-the-table type show as The Apprentice: You're Fired)

To be honest wouldn't you chase the money for just doing the same thing? I know I would!!!

I do feel sorry for Adrian. He is a very good presenter for football but it appears his 'brand' (eurgh) has been left toxic by the Daybreak failure.

Hardly - he presented two Euros, a World Cup and regular live Champions League for ITV right through to his retirement, along with Premier League highlights for three years. He left on his terms at a time of his choosing.
