Lambie-Nairn have designed the graphics for the tournament in Poland and Ukraine.

The whole thing is very Eurovision. Still I think it works well for the tournaments branding.

It will be interesting to see if broadcasters are allowed to use their own graphics for their own elements. As this doesn't seem to be allowed in the Europa League but it seems to be for the Champions League.

I wouldn't be surprised, if ITV launched something similar to the 2006 a complete overhaul to their graphics which can be used across all sports. It seems to be something that's slowly becoming lost.

Presumbly the BBC will be using the gold and black package, possibly in the tournaments colours.

We know the Beeb will be presenting from the Salford studio in the opening stages with Jake pitchside.

We still don't know where ITV will be housed do we?

The music used in that video is the same theme music that was used for UEFA Euro 2008 - wonder if that means that it'll be used again in Euro 2012?

I was amazed with what the BBC and ITV got away with last time given UEFA's absolute instance on ensuring everyone uses the same graphics package and titles in the club competitions. Both broadcasters used their own titles (and I would not be surprised if they were the only two broadcasters in Europe that got away with that). ITV's titles didn't even have "UEFA" in them which is usually a cardinal sin when it comes to a UEFA competition. t do recall that the BBC did occasionally run the official titles at random times (though never at the start of the programme where they were intended to be used!), I don't recall ITV doing that but then again I didn't watch that much of the tournament on ITV!

Perhaps that's just what they had to work with at that stage?

I think the BBC did it before they went to the commentary teams.

There are a lot of inconsistencies about that video which make it very much a rush-job mockup -- a player called Keane scoring for England against Holland, plus Northern Ireland making the finals....

As for the BBC using the "official titles" before commentary - methinks that was the same as when they join the FIA feed for a Grand Prix -- part of their contract is that they hand over to the match coverage from the host broadcaster which is preceded by the official bumper.

I like when they use the official graphics as it makes the tournament seem special rather than just a bog standard edition of Match of the Day.

Having said that with us having split broadcasting rights, I suppose it adds variety if the BBC use their own graphics and ITV use the official ones.

I think both channels should show their own opening titles at the start of the programme with the official opening titles just before the match starts.

I recall in Euro 2004, the BBC would use the official titles for overnight replays etc but their own titles for the live games which seemed a strange arrangement.

Not quite the same though, because the Sweeping Curves ident is part of the FIA feed and run on all broadcasters at the same time. Wheras with Euro 2008, the official titles were run by other broadcasters at the start of their programmes but not where the BBC ran them going into matches - RTÉ at any rate just handed over to their commentary teams as usual.

ITV is based in Warsaw.

Saw these last week - a very nice package though it doesn't scream football. Doesn't look like there is a scorebar as part of the package although I suspect ITV and the BBC would rather do their own thing top left anyway. It's never easy to guess whether they'll take the host graphics - sometimes neither do, sometimes both do and sometimes just the one does - but no distinct pattern. If I had to guess though I'd say ITV are more likely to take them than the BBC, but they could just as well dust of their WC2010 graphics, which were very nice and never quite right when adapted for future games.

I'm pretty sure for every European championship since 2000 the BBC and ITV have used the graphics on the host feed. I think that's a requirement. But both have used there own graphics for their own stuff. Unlike the World Cup where the BBC have had there own style replacing the official graphics.

I'm glad it doesn't seem that they're doing what they do for the Europa League and putting all the graphics that should be in the lower third where the score bar goes.

This, I assume is the official opening titles:

There was also some nice use of the graphics during the draw last year. Here's the technical explanation of the draw (starting at 7:05):

And also the host cities and stadium presentation (could the first 20 seconds possibly be the closing titles?):

And in the promo it had a graphic of Netherlands 3 - 0 England (maybe a prediction by them). :p

Having each shown a highlights programme for the World Cup looks like the BBC and ITV are back to alternating them this year, dependent on who screens the evening game.

This might give us some clue as to what the BBC's presentation and in particular the opening titles will be like.
