The UEFA Cup proper kicks off on Wednesday 24th September and there are plenty of British sides for the tv companies to cover.
five have pushed the boat out, they will be showing two live matches on the wednesday. Blacburn will be action during late afternoon and will be followed later in the evening with live coverage of the Liverpool match.
Will we see John Barnes make his debut as the main anchor on football on five?
Eurosport will be covering the Southampton.

I couldnt find any other matches taking place that night. Looks like Newcastle's home match will not be covered

In a similar vein, it appears from next weeks schedules that now Sky Sports have the rights to Wednesday night matches, ITV1 are not showing highlights - not sure if this is through choice or contract.

looking at http://www.knplogic.co.uk/sport/UEFA.html it seems most UEFA cup matches are now on Wednesdays on none Champions League weeks.
