The main reason I start a thread is to ask this question...

Who hosted the final back in 1999 when Man Utd beat Bayern Munich?

Was it Bob Wilson or Des Lynam?

Quite unlucky for Des if it wasn't him - missing out on an English club in the final the year before and year after he hosted ITV's coverage.


Also, any idea when Gabby goes on maternity leave? Will this be the last match she hosts this year.

More than likely to have been Bob Wilson who hosted the 1999 UEFA Champions League Final, as Des signed for ITV during that Summer.

I read on Teletext that Gabby goes on leave in July, but will be back presenting in September, for the new Champions Leauge Season and that she'll be also fronting next year's World Cup on ITV.

Convienant that she schedules her pregnancy outside of the football season, on years when there is no summer competition!

The football should have been on ITV 2 .I don't see why Scottish viewers should be subjected to a whole night of English Football.

Don't be stupid, It isn't english football. It's the Champions League Final, most years both teams are foreign!

Because its what people want to watch.

We should be greatful we have a break from the soaps which are shown almost every other weeknight during the year. As much as I love Corrie I am glad of a break, and we get 2 episodes on Friday anyway.

Actually i can't stand football.Celtic,Rangers Scotland,England any of it. I prefer Corrie i couldn't care if they all get canned by whoever you can slag them all you want.
