As discussed in another post the Tyne Tees ident is going to be updated with the new look Tyne Tees logo used only on regional programmes at the moment.

Well, I decided to create an image of how the logo when redesigned may look. Let me know what you think.

Find it at http://isonstinepics.0catch.com/tynetees.htm

Mmm, do you think that the logo and text will be white, most of the others are yellow on blue backgrounds, and I think the text on all the idents is yellow.

I would have to agree with square eyes simply because Granada and Yorkshire, also use the blue and yellow scheme as well.

They will be white - Granada's generic ident is based on the 1987 one, but with the font from the current end cap (1993). Yorkshire's logo IS yellow - hence yellow writing. Anglia and Meridian's logos have yellow in too. Yellow writing is not compulsory - LWT's logo is full colour. Why Granada didn't use white (their logo is actually silver) I don't know! Sad

I just thought I would keep in with the Tyne Tees colour scheme Smile

A yellow Tyne Tees logo just wouldn't be right! Not in this day and age!!!

Personally I don't like the hearts and regional logos should return in full!

At least Carlton use the heart but in a different way and I think it works much better than completely generic ones! Then again Carlton's logos were designed by the most excellent Lambie Nairn!

LWT dumped their hearts logo after about 2 months, and produced what is a very good ident, with the BIG screen. Remember also that HTV's is all yellow, the Border text is yellow, and ITV's generic logo is blue & yellow, it's the corporate colours. It remains to be seen what they will do with Tyne Tees.

I think all the companies that took the generic logo adopted the yellow and blue, so if Tyne Tees go and do something else, that would be astonishing!

Another font question! James, what font does Tyne Tees use (the one you've used on your version of the new ident)?

The Tyne Tees font is a variation of 'Britannic Bold', downloadable at TV Archive!

As someone suggested, I've recoloured the logo to make it fit in with the generic scheme but it looks out of place and the new look Tyne Tees logo just doesn't look as nice.

I quite like it in blue and yellow!

But to be brutally honest, it still looks crap. Not your fault of course James, it's the fault of GMG's graphic designers for coming up with that dull ident in the first place!
