Yea I understand the principle, just don't get why they didn't make it a bit more generic. They must have learnt their lesson as that's how they do it now.

It's the same as, say, Gold. They don't play the BBC master tapes, they have their own versions in their own library and they'll be labeled 'UK Gold', 'UKTV' or whatever branding or name used when the copy/edit was made

Off-topic - but that explains why UKTV continue to TX older versions of shows that have since been remastered? (Though I'm not sure what happens to shows remastered with BBC WW funding - and whether the remasters are then just the property of BBC WW or become available for general sales use. I'm thinking of the HD Joan Hickson Miss Marples for instance)

Which explains why slides like below still appear on commercial breaks on UKTV from time to time.

I'm sure I've seen UKTV EOP/BOP slides from the time without a channel name - as presumably they were intended to go out on Arena or Gold

I've seen these too - same as the example shown above but with a massive empty space where the logo should be.

How would one go about finding out when Mary Tyler Moore 5.1% and Arthur Price, chief executive of MTM, 6.6% shares in TVS were sold off since there was an embargo until July 1993.

And that would be relevant how?

TVS Entertainment Plc's liabilities and assets were absorbed into TVS Television Ltd.

Yes on 1st April 1993 TVS Television bought TVS North America from TVS Entertainment for 23 million. TVS North America then immediately sold MTM to Family Entertainment Inc for the same amount (see what I was saying the other day about assets being moved between co-owner companies). Then later that year TVS North America was wound up

Probably not really relevant, but it's quite interesting looking through company records <geek> Incidently there don't seem to be any companies house entries for the old parent company TVS Entertainment

I think the above is linked to the below: Why didn't MTM just get sold off directly to Family channel inc? Did the share holding from above prevent full control? Did Mary end up having shares in Family?

TVS Entertainment Plc's liabilities and assets were absorbed into TVS Television Ltd.

This is VERY relvant because it make even less since now... IF the above is correct MTM was already out of the hands of TVS Television by the time Family channel uk launched. If that is the case then Flextech owns the UK TVS archive as part of its buyout of the assets?

As my original post states, TVS Television Ltd sold its archive around before Flextech took over the company.

Why was it sold? I think we might be getting to the bottom of the problem with the paperwork. Going by Insp. sands post, MTM was already out of its hand, so was so valuable within the UK TVS archive? Cats eyes? The Ruth Rendell Mysteries? Flextech were still using stuff from the TVS archive for twos and the gameshows for at least 4 years.

I know this sounds daft, but why would an american company want with UK archive, when it wasn;t linked as stated above to anything else within TVS empire.
