No it wasn't. I am sick to the back teeth of people creating new threads on this forum which turn out to be obituaries pasted in from agency copy (usually with a string of replies declaring 'a great man/woman has been lost. my thoughts are with his/her family and friends' tacked on the end as if the posters in any way knew the person they were commenting on and wasn't commenting purely from the standpoint of having watched a couple of TV series the person in question appeared in). This is a TV presentation forum, not an obituaries forum for people whom no one on here actually knows!
On this occasion, it's been taken one step further, with a big ho-ha made about someone being ill; who *might* be the subject of an obituary at some point in the next few years (although from reading about it elsewhere, doesn't appear likely to happen).
I in no way wish to become involved in some argument going on between certain members in this thread, but threads like this don't half annoy the hell out of me!

I agree. A rule I'd like to follow is that if the person has been mentioned on here before it is allowed, so I think this one is ok as Beadle will have been discussed before. It's when some obsure film actor or someone from a TV series in the 70s who's never been mentioned here before when its too much

Ooh Shock horror! Its not 'life threatening'. He still has a serious illness though and it most certainly was worth posting.

[EDIT:
Regarding Nick Harvey's post below]
It was an 'intelligent observation' of my frustration that this is a TV Forum and anyone should be able to comment on anything TV related that they like! You really are taking this far too seriously Nick and I really suggest YOU get out more.
Jeremy Beadle is suffering from Leukeamia - it is news! Stuff the presentation - it doesn't HAVE to be about presentation. If I started a thread about.... Jade Goody catching Chicken Pox - then I could see your point but PLEASE.....
Go away!

Thank you for that highly intelligent observation.
My (serious) thanks to Steve D, Chris W and Andrew for their thoughts.
I won't lower myself to bother replying to BoxMatic, or Mark Boulton, or whatever he's calling himself this week; I'm sure if he feels strongly enough about the matter, he'll pretend to leave again.

Right, well I'm sorry these threads annoy the hell out of you. When I first joined this forum it WAS NOT strictly a TV presentation forum by any means. People were free to post anything they wanted regarding television. Jeremy Beadle is not going to die - so what? This forum should not just be about how e.g. Going for Gold is returning on Challenge (
) or how the idents for ITV1 look rubbish etc. It is becoming quite pathetic that people can no longer post what they want on here without constant bullying! I think I speak for many people when I say this.
Now I really do not want to say anymore regarding this stupid matter.

Which leads me to ponder why you've managed to drag it on so long, thus far.

Pardon? How do you draw a distinction between one illness and the other? You're just making it up as you go along.
Nick is quite right. This is not the place for threads like this, nor is it a place to start those appalling "RIP" threads we so often get.
"Stuff the presentation" you say?

....ahhhhh.... the beauty of the internet, where we can all anonymously have a real shouting match with each other over subjects that would normally not even raise an eyebrow if we were all seated in a room together or at the pub, over a beer.
.......and posts which we feel very very strongly about at the time, but when we re-read them two days later, cannot fathom for one minute why we were so incensed about it in the first place, and we all become embarrassed whilst sitting alone at our PC, realising what fools we've made of ourselves. We've all been there chaps!!!
Get Well Soon, Mr. Beadle! Some of us love you. Some of us loathe you. Some of us never quite understood you.
But, NONE of us wishes that particular illness on anyone. Let's hope that you make a full recovery very soon.

Thats the type of post I was expecting from this thread. Well done. Least someone has a heart.

Yes, it's the sort of post most of us were dreading. Please, spare us the false sentimentality. It's nauseating.
Of course none of us wish any ill on Mr Beadle, but as none of us (I presume) know him, why do we have to explicitly send our good wishes?
