Television presenter Jeremy Beadle is suffering from leukaemia, ten months after undergoing cancer surgery, his manager has confirmed.
The 57-year-old, famed for Game For a Laugh and Beadle's About, was diagnosed three weeks ago following a blood test.

Beadle said the illness was "not life threatening" unless it suddenly flared up, and it was "business as usual".

The entertainer, who shot to fame in the early 1980s, had an operation to remove a cancerous kidney last year.

"There is no disruption to my life, nor will there be. It doesn't change a thing about how I live," he told the Daily Express newspaper.

Set-ups

"I can't be too cavalier with my general health now, which I have been in the past," added Beadle.

A spokesman for the TV star said he was suffering from a mild form of the illness - chronic lymphocytic leukaemia - which shows few symptoms and is only detected in blood screening.

Beadle is not expected to receive any treatment for the condition except for regular blood tests for monitoring purposes.

Beadle was awarded the OBE in 2001

But if the illness becomes more serious, a number of therapies can be offered.

"Jeremy continues a full uninterrupted work schedule and a lifestyle that is a busy as ever," said his spokesman.

Beadle is best known for his series Beadle's About, first shown on ITV in 1987, which saw unwitting people fall prey to set-ups.

The show's host regularly turned up in disguise to spring the surprise on the victim of the plot.

He later became the host of You've Been Framed, which showed mishaps caught on video camera by viewers.

Beadle was later replaced by former Emmerdale actress Lisa Riley and actor Jonathan Wilkes, before comic Harry Hill began fronting the show last year.

Then that's probably the best place to discuss a blood cancer of an ex-celebrity who's now been replaced THREE times on the last programme he fronted.

How inconsiderate of Bob to ruin such an auspicious occasion, if only he could have waited an extra day. But of course, it's all about you isn't it ?

What an utterly pointless remark.

Fool; if you just BOTHER to read the report PROPERLY, you'll realise that that simply ISN'T going to happen.

Valid point.

Crappy chappy just annoys me because his never-ending hyphenated name goes on and on and on, and pushes everything off my screen to the right so I have to scroll over to read all the posts.
