I only saw a small part of this and from what I saw it looked boring. Nothing special at all.

I think it can best be described as cheap filler and it wasn't as good as that!

At least Ant and Dec were not in the top 5.

I would have screamed if they were!! Ant and Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway voted the second best ITV show of all time and they had the cheek to say the BBC would never do a show like that. Actually they did and it was called Noel's House Party!

It was good to see that Noel Edmonds name was included in the Top 50 as he really has been one of the top stars over the years. Des O'Connor should have been in the list along with Mike Yarwood, Stanley Baxter and Dick Emery.

How soon people forget.

I didn't watch this purely because I don't see thepoint of trudging through a coundown like this when you know the winner is going to be David Jason or Ant and Dec. But does anybody have the results of who came where in the Top 50.

I managed to catch the last 30 minutes of this. What a very low budget show it was!

I actually thought it was fairly high budget. They actually managed to get the people who were in the countdown, to make a comment themselves

Usually on shows like this you just get someone like Justin Lee Collins talking about shows that have nothing to do with him

ITV have made loads of series like this for Channel 4 and usually just feature Justin lee Collins or the latest Big Brother 'stars' talking about the topic.

WHEREAS

This was the top 50 all talking about each other and was quite a feat to get all these stars to appear!

I wouldve given it 9/10 if Bradley Walsh didnt appear - as soon as it started I assumed that Pip Schofield woudve been presenting - it couldve done without a presenter really!

the set and 50 logo remind me of that of itvs 50 greatest shows a while back, just wondering whether or not this is a delayed programme which should have aired during itv50 celebrations.

I wondered that as well - why didnt they do this sort of thing to coincide with ITV's 50th last year. It was exactly a year ago they showed the 50 greatest ITV shows.

Thankfully David Jason beat the over-rated Ant & Dec. Voting public had some sense for a change Smile David Jason has created so many memorable characters, whereas many actors just create one or two.

Mike Yarwood got up to 18 million viewers at his peak, and was on telly for 15 years and served ITV for a number of those. If Benny Hill could make the list high up, I'm sure MY could have performed well.

I notice that Richard Whiteley was a noticeable absentee, given the tributes paid to him after his sad passing.

No Sir Patrick Moore either, he should be given credit for presenting one of the longest-running TV programmes in the world ( Sky at Night )?! Confused

I always remember hearing how The Mike Yarwood Christmas Show of 1977 was watched by a record 27 million viewers and that record lasted for about an hour becuase it was followed by The Morecambe and Wise Christmas Show with dancing newsreaders and Penelope Keith amongst others.

People forget how popular Mike Yarwood was at his peak, in terms of ratings and influence, and when he did a Christmas Show on Thames they claimed that his audience actually topped Eric and Ernie's 1977 Christmas Show. Shocked

Put The Telly On
Clearly another badly researched ITV compilation show, hosted by Bradley "I was better at Wheel of Fortune" Walsh. No way did the size of that audience make up the amount of laughter heard.

I watched some of it purely for the nostalgic clips. I even think the clip of David Jason saying thankyou "for this honour" was taken from National Television Awards or something else.

Lets not have any more of this cheap rubbish now ITV. Bring back Matthew Kelly and You Bet!.......etc. Razz

Well I was just pleased Ant and Dec barely made the top ten. Although David Jason must have some new ITV show on soon to be the winner.

Can't argue with the others listed really. Although it does seem pointless the website having a "suggest another person" when they take no notice. I did feel sorry for Des O'Connor and suggested him.

The least they could have done was have short inserts that listed others not in the top 50 but worthy of a feature. Michael Miles, a big ITV star of the 1950s. Des O'Connor as said before and I'd add Noele Gordon too. Who yes, might be remembered now more for 18 years on a 'dodgy' soap, but the nine years before that she was a huge ITV star. Not many presenters could command 27,000 people turning up to see them - especially when ITV only expected 3,000 to turn up to see Noele. So there are people more deserving of acclaim who haven't been given it. And the above people should have been made more of in the ITV50 really.

And no Greg Scott on the list!

Tsk!

What IS the world coming to?
