Well given that the last time I sat and watched a Polish TV News broadcast (around 1998) the studio looked like a 1970s ITV regional castoff, I'd say they've come on in leaps and bounds.
It's a bit garish, but it does at least look like a reasonably well-funded operation.
I'm not too keen on it, too many big colours, but it isn't that awful
The problem here is that we have seen many badly taken badly lit behind the scenes photos here of the desk and set rather than screen grabs, which gives the wrong impression of the set. It wouldve been best to post some screen grabs of TVN24 with the set well lit and with graphics.
I'm a Brit but my parents are Polish so they have TVN24 at home and the set looks a lot less brash and colourful on tv and you cannot really see all the light fittings. It's an ok channel. Seen as tv news in Central and Eastern Europe was very bad a few years ago, this channel is actually very good and has a Sky News type schedule and is improving it's foriegn bureaus and Polish regional offices too. Just needs more news, at the moment it's like Sky News in 1990 contentwise.
OK, I am going to give an honest, neutral look at this set.
The bed music used for the news is a bit weird, I should say. Upbeat, but it could use something better. Doesn't give an authoritative feel. Maybe it wasn't the intent to give one afterall, but I will never know unless someone tells me.
The set itself looks very high-tech, and it looks OK in general. A bit dark though, maybe it is suitable for the late night news, but not for that period of time (7PM).
I like the way they segue each of the headline briefs in the beginning.
Kamil Durczok needs to lose a couple of pounds, but that's not something that's relevent. Just side fact. Also, I think he looks just a tad bit like Jarosław Kaczyński, the PM of Poland right now.
The split screen is OK, but I saw some picts a few page back that makes the screen look busy. That is not good.
And that's my assessment of this Polish News Channel. They need to keep it up. They are getting better.
