Pedant of South Wales here.

"Freeview" only applies to the channels advertised as being part of the Freeview service. While this is on DTT, it is not a Freeview service and as such should be advertised as being available on DTT, not Freeview.

I fully understand that in many people's minds, the terms DTT and Freeview have become synonymous, just as Sky and satellite have. This however does not excuse TView marketing themselves as being on Freeview. If I recall correctly, one of the "adult" channels had to change its advertising because it used the Freeview name and logo without permission, even though the mux space they bought was not owned by the Freeview consortium.

Neither Sky Sports nor ESPN advertise themselves as being on Freeview.

Pedantic point made.

I assume this channel works by showing an MHEG screen to enter a PIN which then changes to an unencrypted video stream?

If so it doesn't seem to be working right on my TV, the film is coming straight up with the MHEG application overlaying a winking smiley in the top left corner. The channel is also still showing up as Big Deal (my TV usually updates immediately). Can't complain about free PPV films Very Happy

All the films are meant to be free tonight though the MHEG was meant to come up for you to get a free code but that all failed at 7pm so they've just let it go out without the viewer having to do any work.

Fair enough.

Having a look it seems they have some fairly new films coming up, one of the ones on Monday I know is currently on Sky Box Office. I'm surprised they've managed to secure these for DTT, as even though it has an MHEG pay wall they are ultimately on an unencrypted stream that those of us with the right know-how could easily view for free.

What Mux is it broadcasted on?

So is this using something similar to the Xtraview method of (non-)encryption? I seem to remember that channel showing up without any effort on my part on one of my DVB-T Capture cards!

Appears to be mux C as I can't see it and that's the one I'm missing.

Good old Xtraview 'encryption' system still lives on then!

Hmm... rescanned my capture card and Freeview box, hasn't shown up either.

I'm having the same problem. After a few manual scans and a full blown rescan, my TV card is only picking up an empty channel labelled "Big Deal" on LCN 32. I can receive Mux C no problem.

Said channel does have a MHEG screen but that's simply displaying "Smile".

I'm getting a sort of behind the scenes video with a "Smile" DOG (no really, just "Smile" in the corner of the screen) that seems to be an MHEG overlay as it disappears when I go into the guide, and I can exit out of it before it comes back again.

Channel 32 is still named 'Big Deal' though, after a system reset, although my Samsung built-in Freeview TV automatically updates channel names and channels themselves.

Edit: You can't turn emoticons off, so what I mean above is ": - )" without the spaces
