Just wondering if any of the irish readers out there noticed the new look TV3 news. It's their third relaunch in as many years. Still in the same little studio, but in my opinion, much better graphics. Although they continue to use that blue 'sky news' newsroom in the background. All in all it's so much better then RTÉ news.
Yes, it looks just like a carbon copy of Sky News now! Although the astons are very different and quite American. Actually, it looks very good, compared to previous TV3 News incarnations which were cheap and tacky looking.
For those who can't get TV3, The TV Room www.thetvroom.com has coverage of its news look as well as its idents.

I especially love the animated astons only used to display the news casters names. All the station needs now are new/fresh title sequences, the current ones are begining to look dated.

Why thanks Mike. I've been reading them for the past two months. Thought it was about time I took part!

I'm glad TV3 got a new look for their news -- from what I saw of it on the TV Room, it wasn't very good!
I absolutely love RTÉ News' look -- I love the music and animation, not crazy about the astons though. Anyone have any good MP3s of any RTÉ stuff?
I'm not sure whether it's just me who's noticed by Ireland seems to like Sky News rather a lot!
The national broadcasters seem to model themselves on it, TV3 being a fine example. I also remember RTÉ declaring its election programme would be in the style of Sky News' election broadcasts.
Also, in the North the local Channel 9 station takes Sky News during the day, I think...
Does RTÉ still not offer any breakfast TV?

Whos the freaky looking old guy on the top of the TV3 Section at TV Room?

Yes, because its the only news channel most of us can get (aside from Euronews rebroadcasts in the morning on TG4). In fact, at one stage (circa 1990) RTE broadcast two hours of Sky News terrestrially a day. Every cable company in every region broadcasts Sky News as part of their basic package, meaning it is available in more than 50% of homes here.

Yes Channel 9 in the Foyle valley broadcasts C9 at times. And no, RTE doesn't offer breakfast TV 'per se', although there are programmes at breakfast time on RTE ONE, they aren't a 'breakfast show' as such - mostly repeats and wildlife programmes. N2 has kids programmes at breakfast time while TG4 rebroadcasts Euronews. TV3 has the only breakfast show, Ireland AM.

I don't notice any new look TV3 News on TV Home - At the moment, it's exactly how it used to look. What is the difference exactly?
