If they had taken the Channel 3 North East ident, and photoshopped out the words "North East" and "Tyne Tees Television", it would be an improvement on what they have unvieled!
Before I go further, its not the logo's fault. I like the new logo. TV3 News' current look is very good, compared to the efforts that came before, and rather classy IMO.
But I have to say that this new look TV3 presentation is awful, in fact it is the worst brand identity I have seen since, well, Channel 6. In fact its far worse than that. There appears to be only one ident which consists solely of a 3D animation of a bouncing 3 on a gray gradient background. The breakbumper, well it looks like a 1990s Windows screensaver.
3e isn't much better, but IS better - which is a bit of an achievement. Probably because it looks better than what came before. Again, a lot of gradient background and 3D animation - but its orange dancing "e" brightens things up a bit. The trailers also have a bit going on in them. Wheras TV3's new look is simply boring.
It is almost as if, they decided to rebrand Channel 6 as 3e, used Channel 6's inhouse presentation team - and then, as if as an afterthough, decided they needed to rebrand the main channel to match, and put something together in a 3D animation program in 15 minutes. If it even took that...
Maybe I'm being unfair, it is early days yet, but it looks desperately cheap and very 1980s. And if they've axed the piece of TV presentation genius that is Three Is The Magic Number, that will be the final straw...

If they just made that DOG more translucent it would be fine. I think bottom right is a less intrusive place.
I agree with Brekkie, that ident just screams C3NE to me.
