yes i enjoyed that show. Would be nice to follow up some of the shows they broadcast even if it's during the night.

That Coronation St looked good, I think they should show the whole series

the commentaries with mark lawson (and friend) and the other with janet street porter and john humphries were particularly good.

The highlight for me was seeing John Humhries' face when the little old woman on Little Britain said how Daffyd needed "a nice big c*ck up his a*se". Priceless.

Id love to see old episodes of Corrie, if no from episode 1 then from the Mid 1970s like Granada Plus did.

Are all the pre 1970's editions still intact?

IIRC Granada has every episode of Coronation Street available, unlike the BBC or ATV, Granada didn't bin or wipe film, as alot of pre-1981 episodes of Crossroads were binned.

Most 1960s eps of corrie though are export copies on film, rather than the original domestic ones on VT.

You'd be quite surprised about that really, as I said when ATV lost their franchise apparently alot of Film was binned, such as many episodes of Crossroads and editions of Tiswas too, then when ATV was sold off onto Polygram they didn't take good care of the archive either, only since when Carlton got the full archive, they've taken care of it.

IIRC the BBC also binned alot of film too, the best example was the 'missing' episode of Dad's Army that was only found a couple of years ago.

Wouldn't the best example be the god knows how many missing eps of Dr. Who? plus the fact that none from the 60s and many from the early-mid 70s even survived in their original format! All from the 60s are B&W telerecordings (none survive on their original VT), so are some from the early 70s, and many 70s VT episodes are NTSC transfers recovered from foreign stations (many PAL episodes are from foreign stations too, not the original BBC tapes).

Not that many episodes in the archives are on their original format anymore, as the old Quad tapes are now on a more modern format, and I won't be suprised to find the 1" tapes going the same way (if they haven't already). But at least on those cases, the original tapes weren't ever lost.

It wasn't until 1978 that the BBC had a VT library anyway! They had a film library, but not a VT one, which is why so much before 1978 did go missing!

I was half-joking anyway!
