I've been to the old Emmerdale Production Studios but not the new one behind YTV studios.

Incidentally, if anybody's ever wondered what the Carlton Central East Studio looks like then the building and surroundings are used as the Crossroads Hotel exterior and grounds! It's true! Look closely and it's quite easily given away...

I've been to a place called Teddington Studios, but I can hardly recall what was there as it was about 10 years ago!

In mid-April this year I visited QVC studios, the home shopping channel. As I walked through the building corridors I was shown of some live studio broadcasts, and you had to look through a window which was covered by blinds, just to get a small peek of what was happening.
Some of the corridors have filming equipment sitting in them, I passed one of those long microphones on a pole where someone sits at the other end on a chair and controls it.
And I also got to go into this room where about 300 workers worked away at their modern flat-screen computers. 'Surely someone must be on the TV Home Forum' I thought to myself....but I doubt anyone was.

Teddington Studios is still going. It was the home of Thames TV untill 1993 before becoming an independent studio facility. GMTV's kids show Diggit recently moved there and one Sunday a few weeks back had a behind-the-scenes special.

Yes, I also find it strange that the revived Crossroads is set in B'ham but made in Nottingham.

Mind you, here's an even stranger fact about the original run of Crossroads (when it was a m otel , not a h otel :

Back then, there wasn't a specially built exterior at any television studios. So they used the exterior of a REAL motel! The motel in question still exists today. It is part of a pub called The Longshoot, which is at the top of a very long suburban street on the outskirts of a north Warwickshire town called Nuneaton. The street is also called The Longshoot, although near the bottom it's name changes to Hinckley Road. The pub's location places it right at the edge of both Nuneaton and the county of Warwickshire. Once past the pub, you're in Leicestershire on the outskirts of a town called Hinckley.

Last year I regularly passed this pub on my bus journey to North Warwickshire & Hinckley College (in Hinckley). During that year the pub and it's motel got a bit of a re-build/makeover, and when it was completed a local weekly newspaper ran a story on it, mentioning the Crossroads connection.

It is due to that newspaper article that I know all this.

I've been to the Nickelodeon studios in London, and also the shortlived studios in Bradford.

Also I've been past the YTV studios in Leeds and Sheffield, and also the BBC's studios in Leeds and Bradford many times

The BBC Studio in Bradford still has 1991-ish Look North and Radio Leeds logos on the windows!

It just so happens that I have a drink in there every so often. Its my local, about 100m up the road. Smile

Right, so now you all know where I live, I don't want any nasty letters!!!

Longshoot - recently been done up, lovely in there now. Great laugh on Christmas Eve and New Years Eve. Maybe we should have the TV Forum meet there? Razz:

It does have more relation to TV than most places. Wink

i thought the exterior shots were (in the original series) done at Penns Hall Hotel, Sutton Coldfield? as when the relaunch of crossroads was announced, Central News (west) did a report on it, and said so.

im not questioning wether your right, they probably fimed scenes at both.
