Sorry the quality of these isn't brilliant, but I took them on my camera-phone whilst in Leeds yesterday, showing the current state of the old BBC site on Woodhouse Lane...

Basically, the original Broadcasting House building has been retained, but the nasty concrete bit which housed the newsroom, Look North and the TV studio is now rubble.

The bit they left is listed.
I can't imagine anyone missing this place it was truly dreadfull. It was jerry built to start with, the roof leaked & there always seemed to be a funny smell about the place. Radio Leeds studios were falling to bits - held together with gaffer tape and alike.
It only redeeming factor was a decent car park . Proberbly the only one to be built on an unfinshed bridge junction of a motorway.

What will happen to Sky News' old studio now that they've moved into new premises?

Will it be knocked down/ripped out/converted into office space for some other Sky operation/retained as a backup/used as a studio for something else?

There were rumours that Sky Sports News will move in there.

Hello from a new member

This is an interesting topic, sad to see pebble mill half demolished I visited there on a college trip in 1987, on the day of the kings cross fire, unfortunatly common sense didn't suggest I took my camera Crying or Very sad

in answer to the previous question why not turn some of the studio offices into residential sites like ch4 have done with the big breakfast house and brookside close. (Ok I know they actually ARE houses but it's just a thought)

seen granada loads of times on my visits to manchester, last went in may and saw them recording outside the chippy where smichael grabs joshuas chips, (just before he gets run over by claire) also saw them dismantiling davenports garage. (filmed in the arches where the studio tours used to start)

STV's studios are fairly old - I'd say they date back to the 70s or 80s.
You might be confusing them with the more recently built adjoining SMG buildings, which are rather shiny and include the offices for The Herald and Evening Times.

There's a picture of the SMG foyer here - Scottish TV is over to the left hand side (and has been partly re-clad).
If you're coming down Cambridge Street, it's the brown brick building and yard next to the Theatre Royal.
