IIRC, quite a while back, we had a thread about different past and present TV studio buildings. This included pictures and
discussions of some former ITV regional studios, and what they're now being used for since ITV decided to sell them off.

Here's a small selection of pics I've taken of TV studio buildings in Manchester . . .

BBC Manchester - Thursday 15th September 2005:

I reckon it's about time the BBC gave the exterior of New Broadcasting House a good cleanup and paint job. Why they've
left behind the grimy impression from where they had up a illuminated signs of the squiggly old North West Tonight logo
from the 1980's, and the old BBC logo from the same era, is anybody's guess. They look really out of place now.

Granada TV - Saturday 24th September 2005:

IIRC, there was some speculation a while ago (in the old thread) that the rather ugly office block building at Granada TV
was to be demolished. Clearly that hasn't happened . . . yet! I assume that was either just a rumour, or they haven't got
round to hiring a demolition firm to do the job yet. TBH, as ugly as it may be, this building is essentially an historic,
(and perhaps even legendary) part of the Manchester skyline, and I think it'd be a shame to see it go.

On the side of the main building at Granada TV, is this somewhat rather huge (but self explanatory) ITV50 poster.

I guess they'll probably have something similar on ITV's buildings in London and Leeds.

With reference to the big ITV 50 banner, I thought ITV had only broadcasted for 50 years in the South-East region?

I think it's quite funny that they haven't changed the signage since the place opened, still using the old Granada logo from the 50s!

It's also notable the the very top of the Granada building is visible behind the Rovers in onee of the break captions.

Plus of course Granada Reports has made the building the central feature of the backdrop.
What will happen to that if they do demolish it?
You could watch it happen on the news!!!!!

but granada reports is filmed inside granada studios so if you were to watch it theyd bulldoze it with the cast in there Laughing if granada studios was to move, granada reports would probably get a new look because it gets a new 1 every other week anyway lol

And you could also quite possibly hear the sound of collapsing rubble in the background as well!

You can see the Granada Studios behind the Corrie set on this picture, including the red Granada TV sign!

how do they get the tram into the street on the viaduct?
HO

the houses are tiny in real life!! they are only about 3 quarters of the size a normal house is!! and the tram passes over the granada studios sets because them arches can be found allover manchester city centre.

The tram is computer generated, which I've always found quite obvious but I seem to remember alot of people on this forum pointing out this fact when the new titles first appeared.

There is no way that it can be a real tramline, as the viaduct is a freestanding structure that ends just out of shot on either side. Just look at the picture above and you can see that.
