For some reason I was thinking about programmes that were made but never broadcast for various reasons. I can think of these off the top of my head...

I believe there was at least one episode, maybe even a whole series, of Michael Barrymore's My Kind of Music that was not shown on TV. There are also some episodes of gameshows The Colour of Money and Shafted which have episode(s) which remain unseen on TV.

Apparently, the first few episodes of Bullseye were so bad that they were never broadcast.

There is quite a recent episode of Never Mind the Buzzcocks featuring Russell Brand as a guest, this was due to be broadcast during the height of Sachs/Brand/Ross/Mailgate. It was replaced with the next episode in the series and as far as I know, the Russell Barand episode was never broadcast.

A Question of Comedy. To quote Wikipedia, "Another one-off special, "A Question of Comedy" was to have been aired on 16 March 2007 as a part of Comic Relief 2007, but after a scandal involving contestant Jade Goody it was replaced with a special edition of Top Gear."

I doubt A Question of Comedy or the game shows will ever be shown (I'd love to see the early Bullseyes) but I wonder if the episode of Never Mind the Buzzcocks featuring Russell Brand will turn up in a repeat run either on the BBC or a commercial channel in the future.

Ignoring pilots, what other shows can you think of that have been completed but not broadcast? Were there any programmes due to be shown on 11th September 2001 or the days afterwards that never got shown on TV?

I believe there is a set of Richard Whitley countdowns that were kept as spares incase of cricket overruns that have not been shown since his death.

I remember about 5 years ago or so there was a Reality series that was on ITV, I think it was set on a Boat, I can't remember the programme's name, they even trailed for applications. They did a whole series I believe and not one episode made it to air. I do recall Frank Skinner's sitcom Shane had recorded a second series, but again not one episode was shown at all.

I think there are a few programmes which have recorded standby episodes in the can in case they can't make it on air.

Even though series 2 of Shane has never aired on ITV, I believe that Paramount Comedy 2 aired it a the end of last year.

To add to the Countdown theme when Richard Whitely was ill (which he never recovered from) there were episodes of Countdown recorded with celebrity guests.

Yes it was, with her family's consent, but she'd only recorded one or two.

That was "Press Ganged": http://www.ukgameshows.com/page/index.php?title=Press_Ganged

Another game show that had a full series made but never broadcast was "Man Versus Beast": http://www.ukgameshows.com/page/index.php?title=Man_Versus_Beast

Ah... no. There's been a lot of confusion over this. They were due to film a batch with guest presenters, but Whiteley died the day before filming was to begin, so it never happened. The various guests who were in Leeds that week ended up contributing to the hastily-made Richard Whiteley tribute documentary instead.

Never has a page with so little information been so funny.

Catchphrases: "Man Versus Beast will be shown at a later date."

I believe you have something to do with that site, Jenny. So well done you.
