Am sure they we're made at Granada Manchester as it said at the end "A Granada Manchester Production". Should be a good year with the Vicar of Dibley back later this year too.

Where did you hear that the Vicar Of Dibley was coming back this year? I read in Radio Times that a new sitcom for BBC1 starring Dawn French and Jennifer Saunders about the Womens Institute was being filmed ready for an Autumn transmission. I hope the VOD will return, I love it and it always makes me laugh......with the exception of the disgustingly PC ending of the last episode about AIDS children.

It isn't definate. Dawn French suggested that Richard Curtis may write another few for later this year when she was on Breakfast the other day.

Following that very strange 'Make Poverty History' one the other Christmas I would prefer they kept this particular sitcom in the past

Well, I'm off down The Feathers to celebrate! Ya havin' that Dave? Wink

I only saw Ricky live the other night and he was eager to do another episode of The Royle Family. Here's hoping all the original cast return, even though Peter Martin (Joe) and Andy Whyment (Darren) have soap commitments.

I'm overjoyed and I'm almost certain Caroline won't let us down.........who mentioned Dossa and Joe? Wink Very Happy

I'd say it's very possible for Andy Whyment to reprise the character of Darren.

Other soap actors have taken time off from their roles to reprise characters in sitcoms before - Sue Nicholls as Joan Greengross in the sequel series to The Fall and Rise of Reginald Perrin in the late 1990s, Wendy Richard as Miss Brahms in Grace and Favour are two examples I can think of.

And after all, if Andy is able to take time off Corrie to prepare for and appear on Soapstar Superstar for the same production company, I'm sure they would allow him time off from Corrie to let him appear in another of their own productions...

Please tell me this is a joke. One of the worst programmes ever. Pass the sick bag.

OK, you think The Royle Family is "One of the worst programmes ever". Suggest a few of your favourite programmes so I can attempt to understand your view of the world.

Oh, and you're not THE Continuity Announcer. You're A Continuity Announcer. Just one of a few round these parts.

Monty Python, Blackadder, Only Fools, One Foot in the grave, Keeping up Appearances, Simpsons and South Park.

And don't tell me the RF should be in that list, it's not even in the same league.

I like Rikki, he's got talent, Craig too (as a writer, not a performer, and only because of Early Doors, not his contibution to RF) and of course the vastly talented, Geoffrey Hughes, but he was never featured in it enough.

The rest, are at best, bland. Especially, Caroline and Ralf Little, he went on to appear in somthing even worse and less funny, Two Pints.

I'll agree with most of your list, but to say Keeping Up Appearances is better than The Royle Family is just plain bizarre.

Indeed. "Appearances" is a family orientated sitcom that really is a one joke show. I like it but is totally incomparable to the Royle Family. The latter is intelligent adult comedy that most people can actually relate to. A simple formula, but effective and comfortable.

Alright, we get you don't like The Royle Family, but theres no need to slag off a popular BAFTA award winning sitcom like that.

How can you possibly say Caroline Aherne is bland?
