I'm really looking forward to this. I just hope it's up to the standard of the original episodes.

I wonder if they'll be able to get Andrew Whyment back as Darren bearing in mind his commitment playing Kirk in Corrie. I know Corrie prefers its actors not to appear in anything else, although there have been cases where special dispensation has been granted.

So how old will Baby David be now? About 7?

Well as it's being produced by ITV Productions (Granada) I don't think there would be many problems.

It's scary to think how long its been since the last episode. Only seems like last year.

The show has been commissioned by the BBC and is being made by ITV Productions at Granada studios in Manchester, where the previous three series and two specials were filmed.

Lol, and this is Charles Allen's idea of making production brands simple?

They're wrong, BTW. The Royle Family was made at Ealing.

Am sure they we're made at Granada Manchester as it said at the end "A Granada Manchester Production". Should be a good year with the Vicar of Dibley back later this year too.

It's probably just the journalist getting it wrong.

Anyway, so that's BBC1's Christmas Day comedy sorted out then.

Let's hope it is just like the originals and not ruined like the Only Fools and Horses come backs were

It didn't. The "Granada Manchester" brand didn't exist until 4 years after The Royle family ended!

I'm normally dead apposed to comebacks. But this I'm delighted about and I'm sure it will work. With the show not having a plot - just a situation it can't really go wrong. It's just all down to the writing

The Vicar Of Dibley however never should have made it to TV in the first place...never mind making a comeback Rolling Eyes

Loved the series and unlike some comebacks this will definately be one I watch.

However, I'd rather it had been left in peace and the BBC put their efforts into finding some decent new sitcoms.

Nope, the first series was 'A Granada Television Production for BBC Manchester', when the show was on BBC Two, then the following two were 'A Granada Television Production for the BBC', but as Whataday said it was filmed it Ealing.

Wasn't The Royle Family originally comissioned for ITV? I remember hearing that somewhere....
