I dont believe that piece is production music, its never cropped up, plus PRS dont have the correct details for it. Mind you the menu used for the coming up is production music but again QVC jingle doesn't turn up in them, it goes all the way back to 1986!

Dont bother asking QVC there either dont care or want to whitewash it.

I know several people who've enquired about the theme tune over the years. Speaking to a former manager at QVC he told me the instrumental theme was from an old royalty free US production library and they added the acapella jingle to it. QVC UK were sent all the theme variations, lengths, mix outs and acapella (never used on air) on a DAT tape but it simply went astray over the years.

Most of their 90s menu beds were from the BMG library, I also (accidentally) came across some of the stuff on a few old Chappell libraries I've got. My favourite of the beds used to close hours was Fundance.

I still dont believe those managers at QVC, Yet if you ask the USA there also cant remember what old royalty free US production library it was, it cant be that hard to track it down surly? How many were there? and how many people have looked!

I do know one of the top of the house menus come from a different library Wink Also Fundance isn't Chappel Wink

Fundance is Universal Publishing, the one you're talking about is probably from a Carlin library.

yes its Universal Publishing but it's not Chappell its atmosphere. The only reason I say this incase anyone goes looking for it. That is all, hence the use of winks etc Very Happy I just like being more pin point Wink Now if we could just figure out the old US royalty free US production library

Ahh, another one of those wonderful broadcast quality clips of continuity from The TV Museum. I really do wonder where they get them from!

Why was Swap Shop introduced with the clock? I thought that was reserved for the news.

There's plenty of clips, well into the 90s, of Grandstand being introduced by the clock too.

This theme used to irritate me, because when it was first introduced there was a clip at the end of it as part of the titles where one of the characters is rattling a cage or something along those lines that they were trapped in, and there is a sound effect in there of them rattling the cage. When the clip was eventually changed, they left the rattle in. Listen in at 0:25, you can still hear it.

Not strictly a totally new theme but a very re-imagined version of the original was the Red Dwarf opening tune.

Red Dwarf also actually broadcast different recordings of the end theme at random episodes throughout the series. I'm not talking about the special versions recorded for specific episodes like the Elvis or western versions, but it seems by accident they actually used a different recording done in the same session.

It might not have been by accident, they might have wanted to mix it up.

Unfortunately I can't find a version freely available to post, but i don't think it was on purpose as the recordings are basically the same, just a different take, and it's very randomly placed in one episode in one series but not others but then in a future episode randomly too.
