Ah How 2. Wonderful programme! The final theme tune was brilliant and the arguably the best, definitely better than any that came between that and the original.

Watching the programmes available on YouTube allows me to enjoy the friendly chemistry and jokes more than I would as a kid, the jokes would have gone over my head most of the time. Definitely an example of not talking down to kids. Fred, Gareth & Gail could easily do this aimed at an adult audience.

Plus am I the only one that likes that original OFAH theme?

I'd mention Doctor Who, but I think that's been documented well enough!

Doctor Who has had remixes of the same theme, that doesn't count as changing the theme right? Like the Hollyoaks ones.

Or do remixes count to this topic. Do we need to be reminded of the EastEnders Jazzy theme from the early 90's Laughing

That HIGNFY theme tune really is bizarre, it also presumably would have had to have been updated each time the titles changed as the sound effects match the visuals. The theme tune they used from series 2 was actually used as the closing theme tune in series 1 IIRC.

The original one shows its age a fair bit too, whereas the one that's in use now has barely aged at all. Those who wouldn't know otherwise would probably be surprised to learn it's been untouched since 1991.

Actually reminds me how the first series of HIGNFY actually had a daytime repeat on BBC1 back in 2002 (though for whatever reason they replaced the Hat Trick endcap with a modern one. The original was left in on UKTV repeats around the same time though), ironically shortly before Angus was sacked.

The original C4 News, though don't think it lasted long.

As often is the case the revival never as good as the original.

And Give Us a Clue ...
Original Titles (1979) - Same theme as Grange Hill

A programme itself that changed its tune (and back!)

Get Your Own Back changed its theme tune after that series which had all the bad publicity for burning the losing child's toys.

Or rather, pretending to. It was faked!
Quote:
The first five episodes of this series also featured the controversial "Forfeit Furnace" in which the losing child would have his/her prized possession "burned" - the flames were in fact fake, and the possession was returned to the child after the show. However, many parents complained of their children copying this act, and it was edited out of the remaining episodes. As a result of the complaints, CBBC's continuity announcers ran a competition where children who could guess how the trick was done could win a prize.

Well, DW's themes have always been rearrangements of the same melody. They've never changed it unrecognisably.

The original C4 News, though don't think it lasted long.

It certainly didn't - the second title sequence had the same visuals but the familiar music.
