Didn't see anything about this on here, so thought I'd post it since there seems to be quite a few Brooker fans:

Quote:
Brand new comedy series in which Charlie Brooker uses a mix of sketches and jaw-dropping archive footage to explore the gulf between real life and television.

From hysterical public information films to grisly crime dramas, terror spills out of almost every channel. As Charlie explores TV's approach to fear, you won't know whether to laugh or scream. Warning: contains traces of Michael Buerk and a semi-naked lady.

Starts on BBC Two next Tuesday at 10pm in England and Wales only, or next Wednesday at 10pm in Northern Ireland and Scotland.

How TV Ruined Your Life looks like it's going to funny! Hope it brightens up depressing January, even if it does just prove that many of us are disappointed with life not turning out as we planned!

The beeb are advertising it in prominent places, like just after Top Gear on BBC2. Usually Brooker shows are just tucked away on BBC Four with next to no fanfare, so it's nice to see some prime time advertising this time around Smile

I still hope good old Screenwipe/Newswipe gets another series, but it seems unlikely with Brooker busy with 10 O Clock Live on 4, this series does look like a corker though. Glad to see its getting some primetime advertising!

I doubt Screenwipe will return, even though it's my favourite of the Wipes, as Newswipe seems to be becoming more prominent and well-known, whilst 10 O'Clock Live and the such take up a fair bit of his time. It could be said that YHBW is the new Screenwipe... albeit rubbish in comparison.

I doubt newswipe will be back any time soon either since Charlie's efforts on 10 o' Clock Live is basically that

Hmm. Well.

He really needs to lose those sketches.

I enjoyed this.

It reminded me part of Screenwipe (similar graphics throughout the show and the general format), crossed with a documentary-style show.

Will definitely be watching again next week.

It was Screenwipe, with added murder. The main issues in this he had tackled before in very recent episodes of Screenwipe/Newswipe.

And talking of Newswipe he was on BBC Breakfast the other day and said he does plan to do some more.

I think he's more likely to continue with Newswipe rather than Screenwipe given the changing topical element.

I don't see he why he can't just do a generic "wipe" covering both news and recent tv, like the 2010 roundup?

I think though with TV there is only so much material you can cover before you just repeat yourself. If only someone had told Harry Hill a couple of years ago!
