Hey guys,

Was thinking about some of my fave TV shows from years gone by earlier. With that in mind I thought it might be interesting to find out what everyone else's fave "nostalgic" show is and why. So I'll start us of;

Name of Show: Surprise, Surprise

Host: Cilla Black

Reason: It always gave me this warm fuzzy feeling inside. I also liked the bit where Cilla sang at the end.

So that is mine - what's yours?

Good topic J0nn13. I remember the show that summarily executed people who spelt their names with numbers by tying their nuts to electrodes and attaching a hamster in a wheel to generate electrical charge. Shame it's not on any more, it used to be on ITV overnight before Quizmania started.

I used to enjoy The Grove Family.

I particularly liked Grandma. She could be a cantankerous old cuss at times.

Surprise bloody Surprise???????

Sorry, but I spat my tea out when I read that. As far as I am concerned that programme was an early indicator of ITV's decline. Horrible, horrible people-oriented slushy papTV. Eurgh. I feel dirty now.

Dempsey and Makepeace, I really enjoyed the action in that series, that's going back to 1984, Only Fools and Horses, The Brittas Empire, Man About The House, Rainbow, The Krypton Factor, Dad's Army and bizarrely as an Asian myself Mind That Language!

Strange But True? with Michael Aspel, 1993-1997 I think (ITV).

It was perfect, if not creepy, Friday night TV.

It always freaked me out when I was younger, some of the reconstructions were very convincing. Michael Aspel was at his wry best, coming across LWT's version of the Narrator from the Rocky Horror Show , sitting in a gloomy library.

The titles were quite atmospheric too. Sadly, there's no sign of any VHS/DVD releases or Youtube clips, unless anyone knows any different

Dungeons and Dragons. I noticed the box set is in HMV, but I think it's one of those things that if you watch as an adult will ruin the memory.

Reminds me of Knightmare , the first first "intelligent" gameshow for kids I think. They used cutting-edge computer technology at the time... looks a bit tame 15 years on Laughing

vic reeves big night out: very surreal
the word: everybody used to watch it at school - i saw a few episodes years later and it was a bit pants.

the fast show, harry enfield, red dwarf were all stable watching when i was going through school and regularly talked about.

the dreamstone, bimble's bucket, emu and grotbags were also good kiddies tv viewing. shame more of these greats aren't available on dvd.
