What's on TV has fired the first shot in a new TV Listings war, cutting it's cover price by 10p to 35p. TV Choice has now followed suit, undercutting them to 30p.
Radio Times bosses aren't happy, saying it'll take any profit out of the TV Listings industry, and claiming that newsagents will have to sell three copies of What's on TV to make as much as they do on one copy of Radio Times. Then again, Radio Times does cost 93p.
So do you still buy TV guides - or get the free ones out of the papers.
Although they frustrate me with their blanket EastEnders coverage - even though it's been crap for over 2 years - What's on TV is far superior to TV Choice out of the cheap mags.
Traditionally I've read TV Times, but love the sarcastic way TV Quick write their listings (are they done by Harry Hill?) - while at the higher end of the market I prefer The Total TV Guide to Radio Times.
Out of the newspapers - the Sunday magazines are generally crap, but the Sun's TV Mag is pretty good on a Saturday with a decent listings layout too.
