Chain letters was on peak time on "Thursday" during late 80's:

* S2: 13 October 1988 until 30 March 1989 25 episodes
* S3: 16 November 1989 Until 21 December 1989 then once more on 4th January 1989, then disappearing for good out of peak time replaced by "tell the truth" series 3 did not reappear until May 28 1990 during the 09.30am slot ( no slots because of Lucky ladder, Pyramid game and Cross-wits;)

Scottish television did not broadcast Series 2 or series 3, during peak time. There had local show called "Scottish Question" going out on the same slot, I have looked but I cant seem to found it in the listings: when it moved to daytime at 9.25 it start broadcasting the programme again.

So why did Andrew O'Connor do alright to stay YET Allan Stewart bombed?

I have most full tv listings for Radio Times issues from 1968 to 1979, have some from TV Times issues.
I would like to see more tv listings both BBC and ITV from 1950 to 1999. Smile

Back on topic, The Guardian digital archive includes TV and listings pages up to 31 Dec 2000 (they are currently scanning 2001-2003) including variations, many "Astra", "cable", "DST" and "OND" channels and national and London radio stations. It is a subscription site but I find the code "ARCHIVEFREE" will let you in for free Wink

I have uploaded a sample page (printed to a PDF creator) at http://www.btinternet.com/~leestanley625/guardiantv/2000-12-30-Sat.pdf

The listings come with a sarcasm warning, e.g. on 31/12/2000:
Quote:
11.15 The Music of Andrew Lloyd
Webber (T) (S) (R) Quite why
anyone would want to usher in the
New Year watching a re-run of
Lloyd Webber's 50th birthday
bash is anyone's guess. 453798

Do you need to sign up to Guardian's website in order to view it?

Yes. Hence my words "a subscription site".

I didn't want to start a new thread, but since you are discussing old programmes here, just thought I'd let you know about a programme on BBC Alba called "Suil Air.... ". Each episode has BBC archive clips from a particular year. Granted there are subtitles and Gaelic over them, but still worth a look, I think.

Times are Tuesday 21..00 (repeated Sunday 21.00)

Thanks. Do they go back to the late 1980s/early 1990s by any chance? If so I'll have a nosey over Smile

A little more info about 'Suir Air'

The series has been broadcast since 2009 but I have only just got Alba on Freeview. There seem to be 10 episodes featuring various years from 1960-1990.

Yes they do and further. I've only looked as far back as 1983, and the formats of the pages have changed over time. Sometimes it takes a while to find the TV pages. The occasional page or edition is missing (for example my birth date isn't there).
