Anyone else been watching the quite watchable TV Heaven, Telly Hell on C4 the last couple of Sundays.

It's not exactly the most original format, but is quite entertaining none the less. Basically, a celebrity talks to Sean Lock about some things on TV they like and some things they don't like - and then recreate a moment from their own personal TV history that didn't quite go as planned at the end of the show.

Thankfully they don't go for the obvious likes and dislikes - so far we've had Alan Davies and his fondness of Aerobics workouts and Johnny Vegas's views on QVC. This week it's Johnny Vaughan.

I guess you know the question that's coming - your own TV Heaven, Telly Hell. And let's try and avoid the obvious gripes - let's go for the more quirky things on the box that you really like - or really don't!

Now just to say 2 of my fave shows ever are Only Fools & Horses & The Simpsons also love Red Dwarf, Little Britain etc and I HATE!!! Eastenders, Coronation Street but I won't choose them as main choices because there too well known. This is what I would have if on the show for and I've tried to be quirky but had to put the 1 heaven and it is known by a lot of people.

Big Brother (Channel 4)

I just hate ALL reality TV period, I hate realty! But this is the grand mother of all my reality TV hates. Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad
Bunch of people in a house with cameras on them doing stuff WOW how thrilling I’m going to get all hyped up watching it all day long and vote the one my least favourite one off Rolling Eyes WOW its just so intellectual and provides just good brain food and my life is SOOO much more fulfilled knowing about these losers and caring so much about the tasks they get involved in... It’s just so exciting to tune in every day to see that they vacuumed the house, had a shower and argued over toilet paper. Exactly the kind of thing dedicate 8 weeks of my life too each year Rolling Eyes - Note I'm being sarcastic.
The other thing annoying about it is that society in general well in the work place you’re considered an outcast and boring because you 'don't give a .... About it all'' you've got to be glued to it all the time otherwise you haven’t got a life Evil or Very Mad

Now you can take the mick all you want but I like this, its cheesy yes, it’s outdated yes but that’s why I like it. It is cheesy but its good 'cheesy'. Ok I admit it’s not really that 'funny' although like anything there a few nice giggles every so often but I like this show so much because it’s 'cuddly' and a nice underlining message or point to it all. Here we have the 1960's and normal married couple although only us a viewers know that really there is a conflict always going on because the couple are from 2 completely different worlds although there is a sci-fi twist the one is witch. Women who can do 'ANYTHING' she wants too has all the power in the universe in her fingertips but would rather just be a housewife for the man she’s loves. You wouldn’t get that happen anymore and it’s a nice thought to think that someone could love someone that much!.
Its this friction between these 2 worlds and all the sci-fi element that makes the show for me tho like they never 'quite' tell you too much they always cut it short etc e.g. in the one episode when Sam 'zaps' a mug out of existence with her magic Darrin says ''where does it go when you do that'' and she goes to tell him but then stops ''Actually I don't want to know" that is frustrating for me because I want to know. The show blurs what was the normal US culture of the 1960's with an amazing sci-fi twist to it and I love it. Plus also because my parents are a little old-fashioned with there ways and my mum is a housewife herself I can actually translate a lot of the things from the show to my own life and I kind of wish It could have the magic element to it that happens in the show. I also confess to never watching on it TV anymore as I’ve got all the episodes on DVD now but like everything I saw it on TV originally.

QI (Quite Interesting) (BBC2/4)

I like this simply because I have a thirst for knowledge on intellectual and factual things. I not a genius and I don't understand mathematical physics of course but outdoing people with knowledge of things yes that is me all over. This show breaks away from modern life, cleb gossip and the latest reality TV goings on Rolling Eyes and for 30 minutes talks about things that are interesting and actually worth knowing like historic facts and things from other peoples culture. The amount of stuff you think you know but can be proven wrong over in this show I lost count. You learn & laugh at the same time if school was done this way I really would have become a genius.

Prime Minister's Question Time (BBC2/BBC Parliament)
http://news.bbc.co.uk/olmedia/80000/images/_82556_bl_qtime_pointing_13-05-98_150.jpg

Right, well being very politically minded and that rare of things for a 23 year old. I'm right wing (well over to the right of the centre anyway). I watch this every week and for me its like my sport in that I am a member of and support the blue team in the opposition and I watch to see my team 'play away' really, again men trying to 'outdo' and beat each other intellectually with words is my sport. The thing about it now is that the Prime Minster basically has 4 automated answers he reuses over & over for every single question he's asked. In a way that’s funny because it’s more 'Prime Minister Doesn't Answer The Question' but at the same time it’s dangerous that this man is in charge of us all. I watch each week in the dream that one day the shadow cabinet will one day be on the other side of the dispatch box.

I saw a trail for this, but to be honest, anyone watching this ahead of Planet Earth the last couple of weeks needs their head checked.

Obviously there's no Planet Earth tonight, so I may give it a look- the format seems pretty much lifted straight from Room 101. That's not necessarily a bad thing of course.

Derren Brown and Telly Hell is up against The Queen at 80 tonight.

My Telly Hell would be Celebrity Love Island or cheap spin off so called 'documentaries' about reality TV stars, such as Jordan and Peter and (always bored) Chantelle. Mad

I still like Big Brother because we get a different bunch of people each year and different personalities. This is what makes the show work - albeit it may be getting a bit tired now but to me its the contestants who make the show what it is.

TV Heaven has to be Coronation St and 'real life' documentaries such as Holidays From Hell (something ITV have cut down on over the last few years in favour of trashy celebrity-filled rubbish).

I'm also a fan of comedy shows such as Peep Show (even though its a bit....simple) and the soon to return Royle Family. Smile And of course Russell T's...Doctor Who.

More to follow I'm sure.... Wink

OK - let's get the obvious ones out of the way:

TV Heaven - Big Brother, Shameless
Telly Hell - EastEnders, Quiz/Shopping channels

But my candidates would be:

TV Heaven

The Crystal Maze - a brilliant show which I'm sure would have survived a much longer run than it's six series outing if it had been given the chance. Generally I like my TV favourites of the past to be aloud to rest in peace - but this is one show which I would really like to see make a comeback.

The Big Breakfast - again much missed, but actually I'd like it to remain that way. The difficulty C4 have had in replacing it shows what a special programme this was - and it's influence can be seen right across the schedules today.

The Games - you know I'm a fan of Big Brother, but on the whole I can't stand celebrity reality TV. The formats are usually lazy and celebs very rarely bring anything to the show a group of ordinary people wouldn't.

However, what I like about The Games is the celebs really do have to put the effort in - they can't rely just on their popularity. If, like Jodie Marsh, you don't take the training seriously, you end up looking a complete idiot.

On the other hand, the attitude of someone like Javine (being focused, determined and competitive) would usually get you voted out - but the format of the show meant that despite not being the most popular star in the show, she wasn't prevented from winning it.

And this may sound daft, but I do think The Games can be quite inspirational too. When you see athletes at the Olympics you here more about how they dedicate hours every day training to be as successful as they are - and it's far too easy to think that's too much hard work to even give it a try. The Games though shows that with just a basic amount of training you can reach a reasonable standard - and from there who knows what could happen!

Telly Hell

Sky News - it's just the one thing that really irritates me about Sky News - "BREAKING NEWS". If something happens, it's often still deemed breaking news hours later. Often though breaking news is little more than something we expect, like say the Chancellor leaving Downing Street to deliver his budget. At other times it is of very little interest - but the Sky News team still spends a good chunk of time discussing something that won't even make it into any of the network news bulletins.

The worst example of Breaking News though has to be the constant "George Best not dead" updates we got last Autumn. The whole fiasco surrounding his death completly disgusted me - any dignity was completly removed by the media, and Sky News played a big part in this.

Only in OK - not sure if ads count but there are none worse than the OK! ads, which seem to feed on the same handful of no-bodies telling us the latest detail of what's happening in their empty lives. "This week, only in OK - read my exclusive interview about the pain and agony I went through when I broke my finger nail".

Love the Strongbow ads though taking the piss out of them!

Natasha Kaplinsky - enough said!

Agree about Kaplinsky.

How about 'Radio Heaven, Radio Hell' ?

Heaven - Mollie Green on BBC WM(She's never right !), in fact most of WM's output !

Hell - Talk Sport, since they rid of Tommy Boyd. (In fact what a bunch on the late nights they've got now.

According to Digital Spy, Gaunt's joining to do some shows for them!

Another reason not to listen !

For example, Dicklin - Darth Vader on the radio, or national radio's very own heavy breather ! I tune in half expecting him to expire live on air!

Galloway - A**ehole, plus why do I have a uneasy feeling everytime I hear a serving politician is doing a radio show, in case they try to ram their BS down your throat, but anyone that tells US politicians where to get to get off can't be all bad !

(When I saw him on BB, & Barrymore was berating him, I was quite worried I was starting to agree with Barrymore !)

If you mean Mike Dickin, His health is not in question. Move along please... Wink

A lot of TalkSport's presenters are mainly rude grumpy old men...in fact they should do a Grumpy Old Men: TalkSport presenter special on BBC2 for Easter instead.

Anyway, agree about the OK Magazine ads... Jade Goody "Check out the problem I had with a huge boil on my bum" Rolling Eyes Yet STILL PEOPLE (i.e. My sister!) BUY this rubbish?! Mad
