Although personally I can't see myself checking up on the latest TV Forum gossip while out and about, it's a useful little feature of the forum and I'm sure it'll get lots of use! I haven't gone into it fully yet, but it seems you can only check the first and latest post which could be a little annoying when reading large threads like the Sky News one. If the latest post is "Oh my God that sounds fantastic!" I'm going to want to know what the previous post said!
I think a latest news thing would work better for WAP, if someone or a group of people kept the news up-to-date. Wasn't there a Pres News section here a long while ago? Anyhow, still a great idea and it seems to work fine. Thumbs up from me!

Thanks for the comments. I think WAP is probably more designed for short story updates, such as PresNews (which, had it still been here would probably have gone WAP) but hopefully it'll be of use when next bored on a train journey or whatever. The script was written months ago but it was only yesterday that I actually got down to correcting it and tidying it up. There's still a couple of bugs and a 'Previous post' link should certainly be there so I'll add it tonight.
Not sure about the facility to post. Not only would you have to go through the fiddle of logging in but it may just mean lots of txt speak posts in topics, which I wouldn't think would go down well.
On a technical note, does anyone know how I can tell whether the person visiting tvforum.co.uk/wap is from a web browser or mobile phone (bbc.co.uk/mobile certainly seems to do it)?
Cheers, Asa

You should be able to work it out from the user-agent.. have a look at your logs, and you'll see a few things which obviously aren't desktop computers.

At the moment I think that would be a bad idea... my network charges depending on how much is downloaded, pictures and clips will probably swallow all my credit! Not only that, but Asa would have to find a way for posted pictures to be automatically converted to a smaller file to be shown on a WAP device. If anyone needs to see pictures and certainly video clips they can log on to a computer. A quick text update on the goings on in TV land are all that is needed.
However if a PresNews WAP 'service' was to be developed, small pictures to accompany a story could certainly be a possibility I think.
