Let people who want to pay their respects and if you do not wish to do so, avoid the thread.

You make the key point which has just been exploded by the change to a generic thread.

When the thread title indicated who the thread was about, you could ignore it if you weren't interested. Now you have to come here every time it's updated to see who's just been nailed to their perch.

Could the subtitle be appended with "Corpse Update Jan08: A weatherman, spokesmodel and a Widow Tvvanky"

Yes, but only if the original poster (or a moderator) is available to do the edit when the next death is announced.

The beauty of the old system was that somebody popped their cloggs, somebody started a topic, then people either posted and the topic stayed up the flagpole, or nobody was interested and it promptly sank.

Please let it be known that red tie wearing is compulsory in this thread.

Or the people who weren't interested (ie you and Brekkie) made sure everyone knew they weren't interested and kept it "up the flagpole regardless". Rolling Eyes

Errrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr?

Where exactly did I say I wasn't interested in the individual originally in the title of this thread?

I don't think you're going to find the quote as I never said it.

Accuse me of what I'm guilty of, by all means, but please don't make up transgressions that never happened.

See how the Archive TV site "The Mausoleum" handle this by dedicating a separate area called "Ashes To Ashes" where every passer by gets his or her own thread: -

Oh, I thought you were talking about the TV series for a moment then. I was just imagining what would happen in a crowded place such as a market.

Have to say a thank you to Malcy for that link, if for no other reason than that until I visited it, I hadn't realised that we'd lost Phil Drabble last summer.

Now there was a great guy who was thoroughly decent with the cameras on and the cameras off.

In my book, that's the main measure. So many are wonderful while the cameras or microphones are switched on, but completely the opposite the moment they think their public won't find out about how nasty they can be.

Have a look now.

Please record another vote in favour of the old system. If you're not interested, you can ignore it.

However, death is always a sensitive topic, which is why I believe this bickering should stop as soon as a system is fully decided on. It's not exactly nice to have a tribute to a dead TV star leading into a political flame war.

That is all I have to say.
