As has been said this isn't really the place, if someone wants to make a dedicated obit thread and update it as needed feel free but I think we're getting to the point of having a new obit thread every week now, which is unnecessary.

Simon, if you want to you can rename this as a suitable start to the obit thread or someone can start a new one and I'll lock this one, whatever people think is easiest.

I don't really see though why we need an obit thread at all - this is bloody TV Forum, not the Wiltshire Times!

Sorry I didn't realise there had been so many obituaries of late! In view of this it makes more sense to rename this one, which I now have done.

Apart from Vera Duckworth, there hasn't!

Is it too early to nominate this for "Most Pointless thread of 2008"?

Either way, unless they're dying on TV it's not really a matter for this forum.

As I said in the Beadle thread, the way the death of even an unknown Scottish actor is being turned by some into a media event is absolutely despicable.

There really is absolutely nothing to discuss here - though if you like we could fill some time with some Sky News mindless speculation about how he might have died and whether it all means he abducted Madeline McGann!

So when Richard Whiteley died it was totally wrong to mention it on here?

Whose making this into a big media event? Someone famous in TV has died - just have a bit of respect for goodness sake. If people are offended, don't post in the thread - simple.

Yes this is a presentation forum but there's never been a definate line to discuss just presentation here.

Oh have they - who?

That's on a different scale and you know it. Richard Whiteley's death impacted on the schedules directly and resulted in alot of questions over the future of Countdown and indeed if it should continue - and indeed how it should be dealt with by those involved.

When somebody dies who's claim to fame was being in Eldorado - well, I don't think I need to elaborate on that really. It's not as if the BBC are tearing up their schedules to show an episode in tribute tonight!

Nice one, Brekkie!

All I ask is that we can give honest opinions and tell the truth about people in this thread and not be forced into fawning over everyone who happens to pass away just for the sake.

If sombody was a really nice guy, by all means say so; but if they were an incurable drunk who beat up their wife and kids, we must be allowed to say that too, without half the forum moaning about it.

While you may be right Brekkie it seems a bit rich for someone with 11005 posts to be getting picky about what is worthy to be mentioned here.

Best leave it to the moderators.

Yes, that's as maybe, but you're saying he wouldn't have got a mention on here anyway? I don't think so!

Nobody's saying they should show an episode of Eldorado for goodness sake. You're just twisting words now.

Anyway, as has been said, its for mods to now decide this situation.

This is going rather well.

It amazes me how cold-hearted people can get on here sometimes. Whilst certain deaths may not be worthy topics in your eyes, it obviously is to someone else. Let people who want to pay their respects and if you do not wish to do so, avoid the thread.

Well, only if it's a documented piece of evidence which has been acknowledged as truth. Or it could be TV Forum who'll be the subject of an obituary.
