I remember Jane Rossington (Jill from Crossroads) made a brief appearance as a wedding guest in Brookside, introduced as ‘cousin Jill who runs a hotel in the Midlands.’

There was also at least one Brookside/Hollyoaks crossover, with the character of Matt Musgrove leaving Brookside Close and then turning up on Hollyoaks. I think he was in both soaps for a couple of years each. Sadly the actor, Kristian Ealey, died a few years ago in his thirties.

I was going to mention “cousin Jill” from Brookside, but my memory of that episode is that the character didn’t appear, she was merely referred to by other guests. I don’t recall Jane Rossington being cast in Brookside, so the mention was even more random - and not all viewers would have got the reference to the motel and a fire that took place there.

Sad news about Kristian Eley. The character of Matt wasn’t particularly memorable, but sad to learn of the actor’s passing at such a young age.

I believe other characters started off in Hollyoaks and migrated to Brookside - a doctor and his girlfriend/fiancée.

You’ve had me doubting myself now and wondering if I dreamt about Jane Rossington (I do have strange dreams). I’ve checked IMDB though, and she definitely has a credit. Wink

I think you might be right about there being more crossovers between Brookside and Hollyoaks. It did feel like the two soaps existed in the same Mersey Television dimension.

Jane was definitely at Nathan Cuddington and Jacquis wedding, as Cousin Jill offering business advice, and mentioning her motel that burned down.

I stand corrected! It was very odd though - it’s not as if Brookside and Crossroads shared the same production company or script producer/writer as far as I know. Was it just included as a “nod” to Jane’s most famous role? I don’t think they were seriously suggesting that “Aunt Jill” was Jill Harvey/Chance with a 28 year backstory depicted in another soap.

I think it was probably just a tongue-in-cheek in-joke to amuse soap fans (a bit like the unspoken Father Ted miniature cows references in the caravan scenes in this week’s Corrie), so maybe not a crossover in the strictest sense.

Crossovers in this country seem to be reserved for comics:

That's not "in this country" is it? It's American.

Well I did see it for sale on QVC UK so I'd say that counts Very Happy Seriously though crossovers are commonplace in the US.

Did I see a trail for a Casualty/Holby City crossover coming soon?

Probably disqualified as the latter is a spin off from the former though.

There was a 'Casual+y @ Holby Ci+y' (as displayed on screen) crossover years ago, so not the first but definitely the first in a long time.

It already happened about a month ago.

And then there was that Red Dwarf/Coronation Street crossover...

There's been a Star Trek/Doctor Who comic too, in which the Cybermen teamed up with the Borg, vs the 11th Doctor and Captain Picard.

Going back to one of the other crossovers I mentioned it this thread.

It was Tanya Turner from Footballers Wives who then appeared in Bad Girls but I can't remember the storyline/plot.
