I went for the BBC,

a least ITV put there hands up and looked over everything and even pulled a channel

Yeah, I bet that wouldn't be the case if Mr Allen was still in charge.

Out of all the phone scandals I think Saturday Kitchen has to be the worst.

You can't put that down to a simple mistake, plus the presenter appeared to be involved which makes it worse.

no doubt however the plebs on her are voting ITV due to them being too busy worshipping News 24

To be honest, none of the phone-in controversies has really surprised me in the slightest. Broadcasters have deceived the viewing and listening public for years.

Of all the options, Sky has gone down in my estimation the most in the past few weeks. I was recently considering returning to Sky due to ropey Freeview signals where I live, but their actions against Virgin have really put me off them.

You reckon? The big diffrence with Saturday Kitchen is that the phone in element wasn't a competition, also the amount for the call was lower than the others (was it even premium rate?). The lack of a competition makes it a far worse offence.

Saturday Kitchen has had voting on it's pre-recorded episodes for years, but they recorded 2 endings and just showed the one that won the vote

Since Channel 4 invented Big Brother (and reality TV), the scourge of the airwaves. I've voted for them. Big Brother will bring them down eventually. CBB nearly did.

How is Channel 4 'inventing Big Brother' (which incidentally they didn't) a recent scandal?

The thing is channel 4 does have some really good shows, unfortunately the media are only interested when they f*ck up and never praise them.

I was under the impression that the issue was not voting for which recipe to use at the end of the show, but James Martin asking callers to call in as if they would be getting to talk to the guests on that particular episode?

Yep, that be the main issue.

The voting for the recipe at the end of the show is easily justified by the use of record two different endings - which I presume they did!

One thing to credit the TV companies with in general with this whole phone in thing is that generally they've admitted the faults first, rather than having to answer allegations.

The BBC is definately most affected by the scandal around Blue Peter - which is just sheer stupidity more than anything else. Blue Peter will continue though - but Brainteaser, who did a similar thing on Five, still hasn't returned - even without the competitions.

Err - where to begin here.

C4 didn't invent Big Brother. It commissioned Endemol, an independent production company, to make a UK version of Big Brother, as the format had already been broadcast in other countries to a reasonable degree of success.

As for "Inventing Reality TV" - it depends what you mean by "Reality TV". Many consider the 70s fly-on-the-wall series "The Family" which showed the life of a "normal" Reading family an early example of "Reality TV", as well as 80s series like "The Wedding".

The original Castaway series is a more recent example of "Reality TV" - and that started around the same time as the UK Big Brother series, though was "Reality TV" in a different way.

I voted ITV, mainly because they've lost a channel through this (despite what the publicity says). All broadcasters have been damaged though to some extent for differing reasons.

The commercial broadcasters shouldn't have been quite so greedy. They probably would've generated the same (or greater) revenue from lower priced calls simply because more people would've been tempted to try.

"Participation TV" that used premium rate numbers was never going to last for ever, it's just a shame it went under the cloud of fraud and dodgy practice allegations. I can't see the other Quiz Channels lasting long now. It tarnishes the integrity and reputation of all broadcasters.
