Can't seen Sky giving up a cash cow like that.
Sky One isn't exactly a cash cow anymore. It doesn't have the kind of must watch programming that it used to do, nor does it actually generate a lot of new programming anymore. Sky One feels a little bit lost right now, and whilst an FTA move could help it find its identity, that will pretty much mean the end for Pick, which is another channel that right now feels somewhat lost. I'm in two minds about this, and I don't think we'll see a move to FTA this coming year, I couldn't rule it out in the future.
Sky One going FTA (might not even be in 2020, but we will see)

Sky One used to be the hook where subscribers would come to watch new episodes of US series before terrestrial channels, which worked for them for many years.
In the era of SVoD where content providers such as Netflix and Amazon are commissioning their own content and Sky Atlantic have exclusivity of HBO content, Sky One is now the home for constant repeats of The Simpsons, the occasional home grown gem and some 2nd tier US imports.
I don't think it's that desperate that it needs to replace Pick as a FTA channel, but does need some TLC.

To be fair it is home to all the Arrowverse type shows which I think do relatively well. Has a fairly strong entertainment slate too and original UK drama and comedy now - indeed I think it might by Sky Atlantic which in many ways was defined by Game of Thrones which may look lacklustre now.

New titles will be unveiled for Nationwide on RTÉ One in January to include the new presenter; Blathnaid Ni Chofaigh.
Sport coverage will remain broadcast on RTÉ2. Having programmes on RTÉ2 solely as a "Window to the RTÉ Player" on it's own will be a big risk for it's viability as channel. Sports is about the only thing on it that makes the channel popular for it's long term future.

I wonder if The Sunday Game will get a new look for 2020?

The Arrow is in its final season, so that'll be another show down. Otherwise it's The Flash, Supergirl etc which are don't get me wrong are decent shows, but they're not massive draws.
The UK stuff is pretty meh. Karl Pilkington's sitcom is ok, but it isn't a must watch unlike his previous travelogues for Sky. The Russell Howard Hour is ok, but again, it isn't Good News. I can easily miss a couple of episodes and watch on catch-up.
Whatever happens post GoT with Sky Atlantic, HBO will have shows that people will want to watch, maybe not as many as the juggernaut that was Thrones, but there's a new series of Curb Your Enthusiasm and Chernobyl was fantastic.

It was originally advertised as a Sky Atlantic show but if you see the ads now, it’s now branded as a Sky Original - my guess being Sky boarded the show late and as a result it now falls under the umbrella of being one of their original British comedies and the home of those are Sky One - I also think it was shot here in the U.K too.
Avenue 5, Armando Iannucci's new HBO sitcom with Hugh Laurie is debuting on Sky One rather than Sky Atlantic which is odd but the plus side is that it gets a wider audience.

I think Sky Atlantic will be fine - it will have a more focused remit as a drama channel, has a new HBO deal in place (including co-pros and possibly some of the new Max Originals) and will probably be the big beneficiary from Sky’s commitment to increase spending on originals especially for big scale drama.
