It won't. Didn't they announce 5PRIME instead?
How will the new Paramount Channel do when it launches?
RE
As long as Sky Two makes money - nope. Also Gold and W thrive on the pay-TV space and won't be going FTA anytime soon.

QVC UK HD launches.
Gold and Watch join Dave, Really and Home on Freeview.

Don’t Sky Two not closing and Gold and W not launching on Freeview count as predictions?

Why do you keep on banning on about that awful ITV1 name?

It has never been stated anywhere that 5 PRIME is a replacement for Paramount, any chat about it has been pure speculation and nothing more. So until Channel 5 or Viacom come out and say it explicitly, Paramount is still launching in 2018.

I have my predictions:
More pay channels coming to TVPlayer - they've heavily expanded with additions to their channel lineup this year. They aren't messing around.
Eden HD being phased out on Virgin and BT in favour of GOLD HD, following changes on Sky in October
Sky Two to continue (of course) - makes money from ad revenue
At least one less-known pay channel to go FTA
ITV and Virgin possibly settling their row over carriage fees and avoiding a blackout
Why? It didn't work last time and it sure as heck won't.
When market research shows that an offshoot channel is more recognisable than the main channel, then there's a problem. I recall dbl noting that ITV2 was apparently more well-known compared to the ITV1 brand, before the January 2013 rebrand.
