Mine (a Leadtek DTV Dongle) has a proprietary (ie nonstandard) plug (second from the left here) which connects a standard PAL antenna cable. The smaller plug itself adds-on to the end of the TV tuner (also shown in that picture).
I'm not sure why you're after this - are you researching TV tuners or unsure about what connections they use? Most terrestrial television (at least in Australia) uses PAL-type connectors (like this) which connect to an antenna socket. If you're looking to record satellite, that's a different system which won't work with a normal terrestrial tuner; same for cable.

Then you need a TV Tuner card (or USB stick for a laptop) and connection to an antenna (there's usually one bundled, but here in Melbourne you need a rooftop aerial if you want to receive most signals).
Using one of them you can watch, record and share TV. Some software also has timeshifting features (like Sky+/Foxtel Digital), although the files tend to be gigantic, and you need a decent processor.

Most capture cards also have composite/s-video inputs. If your going to connect it to a set-top box I recommend you use these as it gives a better quality picture than usual RF cable. It's very easy to get a scart to composite converter. S-Video gives the best quality, but only certain boxes have it.
