Hi, the cable which comes from the aerial into the back of the TV is broken, some how the end has come off and all there is left is a bit of metal and the coating (like this: http://www.tlc-direct.co.uk/Images/Products/size_3/CAPF100B.JPG ) - what do I need to do to repair it?

Unscrew the coax plug and pop it back on.

The important bit to remember is to make sure the central copper core doesn't come into contact with the outer wires (the screen).

Slide the back ring over the end of the cable, gather the outer copper wires to the side and twist them together neatly and bend them back over the outer plastic cable coating - pointing away from the tip of the cable.

Use the little metal jaws to hold the screen in place. That's quite important, so if the jaws are a bit bashed, straighten them out first.

Pop the top of the plug onto the end of the cable. Make sure the central copper wire slides into the hole in the centre of the plug.

Slide the back end up to the tip, taking care not to move the screen which should be under the metal jaws, and screw together.

If the end of the cable is a bit tangled, use a craft knife and start again. The illustration you posted shows how much of each part of the cable to expose. Cut lightly so you don't chop into the screen or inner core.

A new plug will set you back about 90p from a hardware/electrical store.

Gavin, as ever, provided the correct factual response. But managed to make it sound rather seductive and sensual at the same time..... Laughing

Oh dear Embarassed .......pass more voddy!!!! (start my week off work as I mean to go on)

EDIT: I was worried about the inclusion of a craft knife somehow! Shocked

Hi, I want cable TV (not digital) and cable internet, but it seems like it costs nearly $100 for any package that includes both, plus another $100 for installation. Some places have decent sales, but the prices only last for a few months. I'm looking for long-term good prices. I have a cable modem so that should save me some cash. I don't want satellite because I hate the whole thing about having separate receivers for each TV (or be forced to watch the same thing on every TV).

Is there any internet and TV cable provider in Houston that has decent prices and low (or no) connection fee??

You might have to look on your own i'm afraid - not very many members are from the United States - this is mostly a British site with British members.

Also, only a few people have non-digital cable in the UK, with analog satellite transmissions ceased in 2001.
