Harry Hills TV Burp is actually an Avalon Television production for ITV.

Where Channel Television come into it I have no idea. The programme has never been made by/nor commissioned by Channel Television.

The BBC website seems to be incorrect on the details. Channel Television have said that Harry Hills TV Burp is not connected with themselves, except in way of Broadcasting.

The BBC need to check their stories before publishing them.

You haven't read/understood the post a couple above yours - Channel TV do EDITORIAL COMPLIANCE for a lot of the Indies making programmes for ITV. These programmes go through Channel TV's compliance department (based in/around Kent House - I can't remember) to check for any editorial breaches. This could be anything from commercial references, or (as in this case) unsuitable material broadcast before the watershed.

Hope that makes more sense to you...

Yes just down the road from Kent House in Hatfields.

I presume that Channel TV are named in this because they are outside the UK, EU and theoretically Ofcom regulation.

They are a truly independent company.

"1954 Television Act didn't apply in the Channel Islands, and the legislation had to be extended by Orders in Council"

so the ita/iba/itc and now ofcom have jurisdiction in the channel islands- which explains why the channel islands franchise has come up for renewal over the years just like the rest of the franchises.

i don' think ofcom have offices on the islands though - they came under the winchester and plymouth offices back in the days of the itc ... apparently

What a load of sh*te, some people really need to get a life, I mean it's ok for to women to beat the crap out of each other in Eastenders, hell it's even ok for a bit of incense (I'm sure that's spelt wrong Laughing ) in Brookside, but that's fine isn't it Rolling Eyes

Stupid Ofcom.

That's an understatement. They'd do more efficient work if they sacked the entire staffing team at OFCOM and replaced them with a large Asda own-brand soap bar sat at a desk.

Just because you don't agree with their decision doesn't mean that they are no good!

Name one good thing they've done.

Channel do complance for a hell of a lot of stuff for the network - Daily Cooks, Rosemary and Thyme and Goldenballs to name but three in the current afternoon schedule. There was also a point earlier in the year when they seemed to do the entire Saturday night schedule - not just Harry Hill, but Dame Edna, Pokerface and Al Murray!

They're not there to do 'good things' they exsist to regulate. And define a 'good thing'?

I presume the original show was not shown at tea-time and had suitable warnings?

The original show went out around about 6/7pm on Saturdays on C4- the same timeslot as TV Burp! Don't know if it had any warnings though

But the 2 programmes have diffrent target audiences, the context of that scene in a factual programme is very diffrent to having it in the middle of a family entertainment show. One of the issues was that they re-editted the scene so it looked like the turtle was cokked alive (when it wasn't)

These compliance issues are all subjective though, the person at Channel who sat down and decided it was ok has one justification, someone else has another

OFCOM get on my nerves, they will deal with something like this but will let ITV1 bend it's PSB rules time & time again. Perhaps 44 of us should complain that CITV or Morning Worship has been taken off air, but of course they'll do nothing about this
