Datarun was the one presented by Lulu's sister, wasnt it?


Yes, Edwina Lawrie. The kids shows on Saturdays originally ran from 8.30, as was the case initially with the Wide Awake Club, it was only a few years in when they abandoned the Saturday edition of Good Morning Britain and ran kids shows for most of the morning. The Wide Awake Club was the first live kids show on TVam.

I am sure that Datarun's theme was sung by Alison Moyet - if not credited to Yazoo.

1, 2 - 3, 4, 5 - 6, 7 - 8. 9, 10

One two early morning, gotta get up early warning.....

Think it is on YouTube somewhere.

And a slight correction in time - when it first started it was on between 8.40 and 9.15

It took one year, When series two come back in September 1985, Wide awake club become two hours long, 07.30 - 09.25.

Because Date Run and the others had loads of outdoor filming and features, whereas the Wide Awake Club was all filmed on one set - and not even a big one, I think it was just the other side of the sofa - and could be filmed in one go. And a lot of the appeal of the Wide Awake Club was that it had a tiny budget anyway, with its daft cheap props. All they needed for an episode of Wacaday was two sticking plasters and some bird feed for Magic.

Yes, hence why David Frost came wioth it when it became a fully fledged programme. As Morning Glory points out, in the pilot they had Loyd looking round the editor's house, and Angela Rippon found Loyd's lampooning of his taste so offensive, and thought Loyd was such a git, she didn't want anything to do with it and demanded never to have to introduce the item.
