I like watching true crime shows, but CI and Investigation Discovery do it so much better.

Tru and Your TV are half hearted efforts from major groups to gain share on Freeview. Pick from Sky is considered dire, but that's slick compared to those two lazy channels.

Quest on the other hand appears to have found a niche on the platform.

Pick at least has decent content like six months behide sky one. Quest proves you can have a decent channel, all this week its being showing live snooker.

TruTV, as with other Freeview channels that are run by pay TV companies, take Freeview carriage for granted and have created a situation where some of the channels have no distinct identity. Simply thanks to the glut of crime dross shoved out the lower section of the Freeview EPG.

Can't Turner, Fox and other companies learn from Sky and UKTV? Both have massively improved their offerings over the past few years.

Agree, the likes of TruTV, Your TV and the CBS channels are just filler at the end of the EPG and viewers rarely get that far - or are rarely given reason to scroll down that far. Then once they realise that they get into a routine of just showing the same old **** - like CBS Drama showing Judge Judy.

Pick normally shows Sky1 and Living programming about a year to 18 months after showing on those two channels. A good example is Fungus The Bogeyman , which was shown last year on Sky1 and is now earmarked for a Pick showing this Christmas, judging from the listings. It's far better compared to the s***e we saw in its previous incarnation as Sky3.

Dave, E4, Challenge and other channels have shown how transitioning from Pay TV to FTA can significantly boost the Freeview lineup.

Never watched TruTV, only appeal it had was Conan, but that went out at 11pm, hardly peak viewing. Agreed about Your TV, certainly would expect better (repeated) content for a FOX channel.

Considering they mooted at either TCM or Boomerang going on Freeview at one point I'm quite surprised this option was never taken. Even if these channels time shared they'd be a massive boost to Freeview.

As stated that the UK verison of TruTV is nowhere like the US version, it makes you wonder whether Turner's heart was in it in the first place.

Would be good to see CNN return. Can't imagine they get much out of Sky for being pay-TV exclusive.

I didn't watch CNN much when it was last on Freeview. I have access to CNNi on IPTV and even now, it's a pale shadow of it's former self, so rarely watch it out of choice.

TCM would be fine though.

Its FTA on Sky, Freesat and Virgin. If Turner pull TruTV off the air, the easiest way of keeping hold of its capacity is by putting CNN back on Freeview.

Or even switching TCM and Boomerang to FTA status - even though that wouldn't happen in the slightest, sadly.

I remember TCM being FTA part-time on Sky analogue. Well I think it did after TNT closed?

Whoever said CBS channels are filler, they get watched by older members of my household. If I didn't have access to the NOW TV/TV Player Plus channels, I'd probably end up watching wall to wall CBS Action.

CBS Action and the Horror Channel are decent for what they are, as is Reality.
CBS Drama is the only channel out of the CBS family that is mediocre - don't they realise the dangers of spreading content too thinly and a distorted remit thanks to the prime time schedule being full of reality programming?

TruTV and YourTV on the other hand are pretty s*** as far as it's concerned thanks to a glut of crime shows populating the schedule and adding absolutely f*** all to the Freeview lineup. The genre is oversaturated on Freeview - there are a good chunk of channels bombarded with crime programming.

While some channels such as Pick and Spike do show crime shows - at least they balance it out with a raft of decent shows and new content.

It would be great if pbs America found its way to free view or even eden. A great factual channel that doesn't show sitcoms or sport would be excellent.
