Turner to bring TruTV to the UK

Slight problems with the volume during Conan tonight. It was quite low for most of the show but whenever the audience started applauding or laughing it suddenly jumped up. Presumably something to do with how the audio levels have been equalised?

Also they appear to be broadcasting all 4:3 material within a 16:9 frame, no 14:9 cropping like the Viacom channels, straight 4:3 with the DOG visible on the black bars.

The idea of this channel seems very similar up abc1, hopefully it doesn't go the same way.

Why is this entertainment channel in the documentaries section of the sky guide at channel 565?

It does make you wonder why they can't do aspect ratio switching like most other channels though. It's probably more acceptable on the music channels where aspect switching every five minutes would get annoying.

I'd rather they did it the way they are doing it. The way the likes of Gold do it just means stretchy vision for anyone watching through a HDMI connection.

That's only a Sky box issue, isn't it (i.e. the Sky HD box doesn't pillarbox 4:3 like a Freeview HD box usually does)?

Good lord no, I can't think of any worse to take over from Ferguson. If he does get the job, it wouldn't surprise me if it was off within a year...
