"Conan" will be shown on TruTV UK on Mon-Thurs at 11pm ... same schedule as on TBS over there.

Why so late?

One would assume because it's a late night talk show. Wouldn't make much sense to be shown at 5 in the afternoon. Unless of course they also plan to repeat each show the day after for those that missed it the night before.

With it being in the same timeslot over here, as on TBS over there, it's entirely possible it could either be on a one week delay. Or they could do it the way Letterman was shown over here, one night after being aired in the US, even though that would mean the first show to be aired would be the last one from the previous week.

Yes, showing it Tue-Fri would make more sense.

Would have much preferred the final months of Craig Ferguson. Always guaranteed a good laugh from it...

Since TruTV and TBS are part of the same company, it'd be easier (and cheaper) for them to show Conan, rather than do a deal with CBS and Letterman's production company to air the last few months of Craig Ferguson's show.

I love Conan almost as much as Craig Ferguson, so good news that it's actually getting a broadcast slot in the UK, even on a new channel.

Those of you who are late night fans, i highly recommend Bill Carter's books on the subject, specifically 'The War for Late Night' which goes into great detail about Conan O'Brian, Jay Leno and behind the scenes at NBC when it came to Conan taking over 'The Tonight Show'. It's a great read because the actual events were so ridiculous.

Just for historical perspective. TruTv was originally born as COURT TV. After the popularity of live trials dropped off, Turner Broadcasting changed the evening programming to crime programming and then eventually changing the name to TruTv and then squeezing trial programing into a block they called IN SESSION during the daytime hours. Eventually the block got smaller and smaller. This was after all IN SESSION studio production was moved from NYC to CNN Center. Turner did this to consolidate production with Headline News which eventually morphed into HLN. After IN SESSION was dropped most trial programming was dropped from TruTV and moved to HLN. Most of the former hosts of trial programming were already appearing on HLN by this point (Nancy Grace, Jane Velez Mitchell Vinnie Politano). Now with HLN relaunching trail programming is less significant and usually covered on NANCY GRACE and JANE VELEZ MITCHELL.

I do think CONAN will be a hard sell in the UK as his humor is a bit odd for Brits. But its not as though CONAN has made people laugh around the world. He is formerly a writer for The Simpsons!

It's a lot less risky than say BBC Three or BBC Four buying the rights the air The Late Show with David Letterman though. With Dave retiring at the end of his current CBS contract, it'd be good to see his show over here on normal TV for his final year as host before Stephen Colbert takes over.

It'd certainly save me and others from sitting on the dock of a certain Bay to download it!

Could you reword that post? It doesn't feel condescending enough.

Here are the lastest ratings for CONAN show which airs on Turner-owned TBS

In late night, TBS's CONAN was on the rise with double-digit growth across the board in June 2014. The show has drawn 887,000 viewers according to Live + 7 blended data, a +19% increase over the prior month. The show also grew its demo deliveries, as well, scoring a +17% rise among adults 18-49 and an even more impressive +24% jump among adults 18-34.

I used to watch Conan on CNBC and always enjoyed his humour. And I'm British.
nwtv2003 and bilky asko gave kudos

If anything, Brits would be more attracted to his surrealistic comedy. It's not like we haven't produced our fair share of it!

Would be good if it was supported by other TBS programming such as the newer seasons of Cougar Town. The earlier ABC seasons were popular on Sky/Living
