Another appalling episode.

The producers obviously don't care about this show anymore. If they did, tonight's poor excuse for an episode wouldn't have aired. All the creators care about is the money.

Who cares exactly about this Dot storyline? I also hear next week she is going to find a baby in a church and adopt it. Yep. Happens every day in real life that one. 80-year-old woman finds baby in church, then adopts it. Stuff realism hey, EastEnders. As long as you writers keep raking in the dosh, just stuff us viewers who want a piece of good telly Rolling Eyes

More crappery to back it up included: Stella forcing Ben to admit glueing together Phil's account book (didn't know he had one). I'm quite literally lost with this Dawn thingy now. And Helen, or is it Sarah, or Rebecca, oh sorry, Libby, decided to post herself on the internet. The geeky faced slapper.

I didn't realise I was so out of touch with Eastenders.

Apart from Dot and Phil, who the hell are you talking about?

I think this thread shows that us Brits love standing watching a bad accident. We just can't help ourselves.

The upcoming Dot baby thing, i just dont get it -its out of the blue, something that would happen on Home and Away. I want more of May, she makes me laugh when she tried to boss Rob around.

As for Stella im intrigued as to what she does next, now this storyline i am liking.

Exactly. That's another problem with EastEnders. They just bring nobodies in with no purpose, and give them storylines straight away, without developing them first.

I'm no great fan of Coronation Street, but atleast they don't take themselves too seriously, and develop characters.

I think the only reason EastEnders gets the viewing figures it does nowadays is because it's hardly ever up against anything decent.

Yeah. I think a lot of people probably watch it out of habit more than anything else. I mean I still watch it because there are still elements that interest me but I'll probably not watch it next week because it concerns characters I don't really like and storylines which don't intrigue me in anyway.

Apprently, in addition to a random baby that makes a ''religious'' apparaition in a church, Dot ALSO takes in an illegal immigrant. WHAT-IS-DIERDICK-SANTER-AND-HIS-''TEAM''-THINKING?
The scriptwriting is an insult to June Brown.

Diederick Santer? Sounds like my ex-girlfriend's dad, the one who was an avid reader of 'The Guardian'.

Back to Dot Cotton, and what are they doing with this character? First she adopts a baby she finds in a church, then takes in an illegal immigrant? The whispy chinned old bitch.

It begs the question, what are they doing with most of the original characters? They've all been given dreadful storylines...especially Pat - ultimately when Frank returned a few years back.

Pointless pish pash! And Dierdrick Santano or whatever his name is, is supposed to turn this soap around? Well so were the likes of Kathleen Hutchison, Kate Harwood etc.. all failed, all don't actually care. Nobody actually gives the time.

Oih, as much as I hate EE I think it's a bit far to call Dot Cotton that.

Don't forget not too long ago Dot, Jim & Patrick where kind of the "comedy" characters of the square, although why June Brown & Pam St.Clement still stand for this sh*te is beyond me

Wendy Richard got out while she could - just a shame they gave her a really awful send off. I think disputes happened and she wasn't worthy of getting Julia's theme. Thats how pathetic some people at the BBC are. Rolling Eyes

It's absolutely hilarious when you think about it. Wendy Richard didn't get Julia's Theme, but Martin, Sonia and Rebecca did. Where's the logic? And then they had the audacity to turn her death into a mind-numbingly boring 'whodunnit' plot.

It actually makes me mad that they could even do that. Wendy's better off without the show. If Pam and June have any sense they'll quite soon as well.

When they go (along with John Bardon (Jim Branning) and Rudolph Walker (Patrick Trueman)) the show will just lose viewers sharply.

How I bet they wished they hadn't killed off so many cast members who wanted to leave, at least if they offered enough money they would have some sort of half decent Laughing cast in EastEnders.

EDIT: Look at this Wikipedia page & see how many left it in 2006, very telling of the current state of this show I think:
