I thought the Beeb used Eastenders as a 'test' for rookie directors?

ISTR reading something similar a few years back.

The Beale's versus Mitchell's storyline is ridiculous. Jane has transformed from being sensible and level headed to being as stupid as Ian overnight. It smacks of complete desperation.

And don't get me started on the ridiculous Branning-Slater love triangle.

I don't understand tonight's ending. This chatroom rubbish is all a bit of a non-story really - granted it had potential but if anybody reads the spoilers they'll know that it has a rather obvious and not very entertaining outcome in the next episode or two. Not sure why they had that as the final scene.

It says a lot about the state of the Beale family when it turns out Ian's a charmless idiot (written into his history though) with more money than sense, Jane changes her mindset to suit the situation pretty much on a whim and Lucy's morphed into a little teenage rebel and on the verge of starting a full-blown argument with Stella over a little plastic bottle. Peter's the only one in the entire Beale clan with any common sense, but even then he's still gullible enough to fan the flames of the feud and then argue with Ian not to do it in the first place.

Have to agree. I had the misfortune to catch Sunday's EastEnders and what a farce - Mickey making a mess (quite literally) of working for Patrick and then the Beales' face-off in the launderette. And they wonder why Corrie is constantly riding high? It has also been observed on Ceefax Have Your Say that the Max/Stacey/Tanya love triangle is a means for middle-aged writers to act out their fantasies.

Nevertheless, what's the betting EE will STILL win Best Soap?

Well people vote for it out of habit. I still often hear people going "Oh yeah, we'll vote for EastEnders...". Most of these people haven't watched EastEnders regularly within the last few years so still vote remembering it for being what it was.

I found it strange that she actually spoke what she typed to "Einstien."

And this chatroom grooming is all too familiar. Toyah Battersby on Corrie anyone?(At least I think it was Toyah!)

Sarah Louise Platt. She also ended up being driven in to the river and having to escape out of the car as well

I don't watch it, but people at work were yesterday saying EastEnders is actually quite good at the moment.
I was watching Coronation Street up to a few weeks ago; I lost interest.

Has there ever been a different version of the titles except for the ones over London?

No, but up until 1993 it did have a blue map instead of the current green.

There has also been 3 different variations of the theme tune over the years. The first lasted from 1985-1993. It was then updated to a jazzy version in 1993, but no-one liked this, so it was dropped in 1994. A new one was then introduced, which has remained ever since.

Here are some of the different opening titles from over the years:

Thanks for that, i think that the titles are letting them down somehow tho same for the music, perhaps new titles and a remixed theme should happen soon.
