Why stop at dropping the one?

EE is just trying to keep it's head above water now - it's just too far gone now to have a chance of turning around it's fortunes.

Exactly. EE is dead and berridged.

Yes, but if it wasn't for her, EastEnders wouldn't be in the state it's in now. She's had a lasting effect on the show.

Story in the News of the World today saying that a poll by NOP found that about 50% of viewers said they would stop watching if a fifth episode was added. Viewers also blamed depressing, boring and far fetched storylines for EastEnders' decline.

Exactly everytime I have ever mistakenly turned onto EE all they seem to do is scream at each other, even the blokes who used to never do that just shout at people.

EDIT: Just seen a trailer for EE on BBC 1 & guess what, two stony faces & people shouting at each other

FOR F*** SAKE WHEN WILL THEY DROP THIS SH*TE PROGRAMME Evil or Very Mad

...and relax Laughing

How long can they use the excuse that it's been going through a "poor patch" - well, four years or so it seems!

The episode count is not the answer - it's just a pathetic excuse. Yes, both Emmerdale and Corrie have arguably suffered from increasing the number of episodes, but not to the extent of EastEnders. The quality is still there - there are just a few more filler episodes.

And Hollyoaks seems to have gone from strength to strength at five nights a week, though technically I suppose Mersey TV cut the soap quota as they lost three episodes of Brookside and gained one episode of Hollyoaks back in 2003.

BBC chiefs shouldn't even be contemplating increasing to five episodes a week - that's certainly not going to solve EastEnders problems, if anything, it'll just cause more!

The only problem it will solve is BBC One's ratings on a Wednesday evening - and that's the only thing they seem to care about these days.

So we now know why Max is such a devil - because Jim and his mates locked him in a coffin on his 13th birthday? Wonder what put that idea in the scriptwriter's head? Rolling Eyes

I honestly don't know anyone who's watched this show since the first episode in 1985 and still enjoys it today. Tonight's episode was just drivel. 80% shouting, the other 20% just really poor scripts.

Something needs to be done soon, if the BBC want to hang on to the remainding viewers they have left watching this show

Those percentages are correct for every episode, everytime I flick through the channels to see what's on some "mockneys" were shouting at each other Mad

Does anyone else think Ian needs the axe? All he does is moan, and isn't exactly very interesting.

I do. I've never liked the character, even though there was a time when he was slightly bearable. But now he's just irritating.

He fits in quite well then!

They all need the axe - simple! The show is beyond the point where a few cast changes could help it now!
