Out of interest, which insensitive ident did BBC Two use?

E4's Xmas animation ident gets its first outing from tomorrow for anyone interested...

Cheers, Asa

Hmm, I wonder if Carlton will show their Sunrise ident ?

Argh, now what should I choose? Carlton for the possibility of Sunrise... or LWT for the videowall?!

I note that the BBC One offering at 7 is to be presented by Jonathan Ross, so it'll presumably be all pointless swearing and no serious content.

I really would have thought that George deserved a more professional presenter.

The News 24 thing was quite good, in spite of the studio builders in the background.

Yes, I have to agree. Of all the presenters they could choose..they chose him. There must surely be more presenters knocking around TVC tonight? There's quite a few viewers out there who simply believe he is on TV far too much.

I guess they wanted somebody with a showbizzy kind of edge. They will no doubt be looking back at his career in music and film making. An entertainment presenter was probably deemed more appropriate for this kind of event than somebody who delivers hard news.

I think the Sunrise ident will be used tonight - 10:30PM, Carlton/HTV.

Trust BBC TWO to show FISH before the George Harrison Tribute, mind u they've only got a choice of four, this is where one of the old idents would have come in handy like Swan or Water before the tribute. Bounce would have been a better choice before the tribute, what **** s me off is that BBC TWO logo person on Liquid News when Asa was on it she practically said the FISH ident was perfect for the comedy zone bcos that would scare fish but then they used the ident before a tribute.

On the point made by someone about how amazing it is they can turn stuff around so quickly... not really.

Today would have been planned well in advance, the guest list may well have been pre-arranged and the scripts etc will have been drawn up a while ago.

I have to say, without wanting to shun Harrison's achivements, that I don't really think it deserved to be broadcast on both News 24 and 2. BBC 2, yes, but not News 24. There are other issues like Afghanistan that should be higher on the agenda than the death of a guitarist.
It's obviously quite difficult for me to judge how significant an event this is, being that The Beatles have had little direct influence on me. I just don't think that the death of a member of a pop group - no matter how influencial - can justify breaking away from a news channel's programming for an hour, especially when there's a war going on.

Yes, they have the obituaries written well in advance. Thats why it there was a look back on his life so quickly on Breakfast. I actually thought Bill Turnbull and Sian Williams handled the breaking news during Breakfast extremely well, and all 'coming up' lighter stories between 0835 and 0857 were obviously cancelled to make way for many interviews and tributes.

I was amazed it received a similcast on prime-time BBC TWO as it was only breaking news this morning with (well before, really!) 'Breakfast'. I suppose the 3.30 programme was more of a magazine show looking back at his life and works: hence they weren't in the news section of the studio, but round the corner in the 'Business Today etc' bit.
