A few questions on the old Trade Transmissions that the BBC & IBA used to broadcast in the early hours of the morning.

Q1 Why were these Transmissions available for all to watch even thought they were never listed in newspapers or magazines?

Q2 Does any know of or have access to the music IBA used to play before the Transmissions on both ITV & C4? I believe it was a classical piece

Q3 When were they last broadcasts?

Looking forward to your replies!

They were listed in a seperate magazine or Ceefax/Oracle and were not widely advertised because they were meant for the engineers working at the transmitters around the country, they may not have advertised them in a magazine such as TV Times or whatever but the Radio Times used to show the times for them, I think. The IBA may have though that the General Public may not be interested in them.

Thanks Stu. I was one of the sad ones that used to watch and wait for them to come on. It gave you a break from the test card LOL!
