Apart from Jo Brand being struck down with the flu & having Rufus 'Who' Hound instead, another notable thing with tonight's show was someone has had the 'bright' idea of filmising the archive clip, so making the Jam clip look a little **** !
TOTP seems to have introduced a few more set elements recently, which I think work pretty well, and add some more variety. There was only so much they could do with the polo mints. I notice the majority of the links now seem to be done from a mini stage for the presenters. I used to prefer when they were much more creative with where the presenters would stand - behind stages, on balconies etc. It added a extra dynamic to it which it has now lost.
I've grown to enjoy the fearne/guest presenter format, and I much prefer the way the show is put together now to how it was during its most recent BBC1 era. No more annoying and over-hyping voiceovers! Though I still don't understand why they insist on playing out full-screen credits at the end, surely it would be better use of the time available to go back to the old format of scrolling credits over the number one performance/video? It would also make more of the number one, creating a bigger ending for the show.

I must admit I like the current presenter format(I've only recently come back to the show, after giving the early Elstree era a go & giving up!).
However I'll have to disagree with you about running the credits over the No 1, as I got fed up during the 80's of them doing this over several videos I quite liked broadcast at the end of the shows, then due to time reasons, fading the video out.
Tonights was the first show that I'd seen in a while, and I was impressed. The mix of music was quite nice, Rufus was an alright host, especially if he'd only come in last minute.
The different stage elements were quite nice. It's great to see that they're still shooting through the stage at the front, rather than having them oposite each other, but with the back being against the wall.
I'd disagree with the standing on the spot tonight, they had various shots in the crowd, and on each of the stages, it's a shame that there's no balconey now though!
TOTP has definitely improved a lot since it moved to BBC2 and Andi Peters stepped down as producer - the pointless 24/7 and studio interviews have gone, there's more decent bands on the show and the hosts are getting better, even Fearne is more tolerable. Shame that most of the archive clips that have been on the programme have been the same old stuff that TOTP2 churned out on a yearly basis.
Given TOTP's music policy, does anyone else think they should have guest presenters from Radio 2? They would suit the programme style I reckon. I'd love to see Janice Long back on TOTP myself (shame she won't have a Peel-type presenter to bounce off though) and presenters such as Chris Evans, Stuart Maconie and Dermot O'Leary would also be welcome.
She's got Radio 2 overnights Monday to Thursday & BBC WM Saturday mornings to do !!
By the way, what is the format of the Radio 2 show? I know WM's is her own choice of music, guests & talking points !"
Janice's Radio 2 show is roughly the same; her own choice of music, studio guests and the odd session, a few competitions and phone-ins and... Pause for Thought. In fact, the R2 show has really improved since Janice hasn't been as restricted to the station playlist and her chats with Mark Radcliffe before the show starts are also ace.
Just caught a brief glimpse of TOTP Reloaded - while the music it tends to feature is not my cup of tea, I am glad it has absorbed most of the "pop" and chat elements from the main programme.
Has TOTP moved permanently to Mondays then? It has been there for several weeks now, and is showing no signs of moving back. Perhaps it got better ratings than when it was on Sunday? I personally am much more likely to watch it on a Monday evening than on Sunday.

I haven't touched TOTP with a bargepole for some time now (apart from the Christmas Day edition!) but it seems that since the Sunday edition keeps on being bumped to Monday by various sporting events, it would make sense to keep it there! So given that we are talking about the BBC scheduling department, expect it to move back to Sunday next week. )

Answering my own question, according to RadioTimes.co.uk, it's back on Sunday on the 19th of March. It does seem that it would be more sensible to keep it on Mondays, flinging it around the schedule is not going to do anything to help its viewership!
